Comments on Blowing & Drifting

Gravatar "What about the voice of Geddy Lee / How did it get so high / I wonder if he speaks like an ordinary guy / 'I know him and he does' / And you're my fact-checking cuz'"

I've always loved Pavement's lyrics for their extreme nonchalance. I can never decide if Malkmus is a brilliant poet, or if he's just so perfectly confident in saying anything to nearly any rhythm that you can't help but enjoy it.

I mean who else would think those would be good lyrics, but, you know what, they are!

Gravatar I agree. My favorite bit come right after - "Focus on the quasar in the mist/The kaiser has a cyst/And I'm a blank want list." Utter nonsense, but goddamnably catchy.

Gravatar I am very, very glad that I was at home attending to the necessary baking of the salmon and roasting of the cauliflower rather than accompanying my babes to this art show, because my God! The apparent dead body figures lying on the floor? Uh, terrifying? My sweet pure innocent babies' eyes on such a sight? Argh! I can't stand it. Plus, now I'm going to have bad dreams.

Gravatar sounds like a wonderful afternoon! that must be pretty great to share music and art you are enjoying with the girls. and the ballerina experience is so sweet! my favorite comment: "it smells like sculpture."

Gravatar Thankfully, the girls aren't at timid about art as their mother is, apparently. Vivi wanted to lie down next to the prone figures, and Julia - once she overcame her initial worry - was extremely interested in the eggshells. Nobody was the least bit worried about them!
