Comments on Blowing & Drifting

Gravatar While you're on the subject of the Mac...
I'm looking for someone to convince me that I should spend $1400 on a macbook when I could spend $900-$1000 on a PC with similar or better specs. While the free itouch they offer is great, it's not quite a deal sealer.

Gravatar I also attended the Tufte seminar, and experienced some of the same logistical problems you faced. I had the advantage of being seated near the door, but it didn't help much unless one was prepared to bolt the minute it was over. I wasn't. I have generally adopted the practice of simply waiting in my seat until the initial push is over - much less frustrating, and not much time lost. My best choice for the day, however, was parking in Bloomington and taking the light rail. The City Center was just a short two-block walk from the Nicollet station and I didn't have to fight with either ramp lines or rush hour traffic. I doubt it saved me any time in the long run, but was definitely worth the trade off in reduced aggravation and money saved on parking and gas.

And to address the Mac vs. PC comment... Get the Mac. You'll never regret it, and if you get a PC, you'll always wonder if you should have gotten a Mac. Much more user-friendly and reliable.
