Great write-up. Sounds like an insane day. I've smoked a bird the last two Thanksgivings, and it's pretty heavenly. But then I've never tried any of the turkey trinity, so I don't know how it compares.

That was no "Tofurkey"... it was the noble "UnTurkey". Tofurkey is, as the name suggests, a big pile of tofu molded into weird little drumstick shapes. Eating that alongside Alex's Turducken would have been an insult. The "unbird" in the photo is actually an "UnTurkey" from Now & Zen. It's made of wheat gluten, which has a meaty texture. It also has a crunchy skin made of yuba (tofu skins), stuffing, and tasty gravy. More information is available on http://www.nowandzen.net/unturkey.html.
