What about the 100 employees that used to work there? Will there be jobs for them at the other properties?

Cookie, I'm pretty sure the answer to that question is, "No."
pman, thanks very much for the heads-up. The Phoenix is gorgeous... but the more important question here for the former employees of The Vern is, "are you hiring?"

Always sad to see an historic landmark shut its doors. Cycle of life and all, I guess.
My memory is trying fried chicken livers for the first time at their Sunday brunch when I was a kid. My dad had a gift certificate, I think. I remember thinking, "This is good. Why do all my friends hate liver?"

That's a shame. The story I remember most is about The Beatles staying there and from what I understand, someone saved the cigarette butts from their ashtray.
My most memorable moment would be seeing Elizabeth Edwards speak during the '04 primaries. Seems so long ago. You were there weren't you jenjen?

Hi - I've been following your blog for what seems like a while now (about a month before that profile in Citybeat (?) Or was it CW? Hmm.
Anyway, this seems like a sad time to finally say hello. The Vernon Manor was one of the first places I went out to eat in Cincinnati when I moved here 15 years ago, and the Rain Man Tour I take out-of-town friends on always drives by.
Kinda breaks your heart to see a jewel like this close.

Jen~
Thanks for the "high five". I have been following your blog for a while, and am a fellow bartender.
I will stay silent for the moment, but will be unemployed soon.

this is sad news about the :"Vern" closing. Beside memories as a kid of attending events there, the Tavern was a GREAT Happy Hour spot....and not only are there many fantastic memories from the bar, but met and made many lifelong wonderful freinds there!

I'll never forget the day that my mother and godmother took me to my very first grown up brunch at Vernon Manor. I was 7 and was on my very bestest behavior.
It was a lovely day I'll never forget. Can't believe it's closing and that I've never taken my daughter there.
