I don't know if I've ever mentioned this, but back in January I ordered one of your vanilla white russians at a nice, up-scale hotel bar.

Three weeks ago, I was waiting for service in the same bar, first time I'd been back in that city since, when I overheard the bartender recommending the drink to the newlyweds - with a smile, she told them it tasted a little like wedding cake. She hadn't noticed me yet, and when she did, she said so many people loved the recipe they came in asking for it. I again credited you and gave her your URL, so maybe she'll speak up and thank you herself!

Oh, and here's a particularly cool coincidence considering your song... last night I went to the opening of a play staring another bartender from the same place... at a little artsy theater ON Santa Monica Blvd.

In fact, if anyone's in LA this month, it's excellent, playing Tuesdays and Wednesdays at the Lounge Theater... 6201 Santa Monica Blvd. 8:00pm, staring Mary McHale.

Gravatar Wow, congrats on the good pub (no pun intended).

Gravatar jen, your blog is too good; when I feel like procrastinating I always flip to your site (like today), and then it has me enthralled... and then a half hour has gone by... and still no writing done on my end, eek.

would you ever consider writing about drinks-you'll-never-be-served-in-a-bar but that work beautifully in a pinch for serving last minute guests? To wit: my brother makes a captivating Half Assed Cosmo with vodka, cointreau... and Ocean Spray. Another personal favorite involves dropping those little spice gumdrops into vodka. Tacky? Maybe. Tasty? Yes!

Gravatar Ever heard of a "fuzzy armpit" ?
