People, when they've had their fill of futility and frustrations, need something like a place to go, where their sense of decency won't continually be outraged. My co-blogger calls it, "how then must we live". That's why I find the Continuity project so worthwhile. Most people don't know that there were and are others who have already figured out ways to bring it about.

Sometimes sobriety and scholarship seem so foreign in our country that being reasonable feels akin to Irish monks preserving ancient texts of learning while society around them disintegrates into confusion, violence and hysteria. Logical thought needs to be instilled at a young age and exercised regularly throughout life to function effectively. TV and other hypnotic pulsing screens destroy those functions.

Spartacus:
I have to say this post deeply disappoints me. Nothing in Sara's post seems to me to suggest scapegoating socialism.
FWIW, she's been bouncing all this stuff off our mutual friend Paul in the process of writing it.

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree on this one, Dave.
I do think the discussion Sara hosted is informative, and for that I am appreciative of your role in allowing it to take place.
