You could consider airlifting yourself out there. *grin*
But I believe His Grace is nearing retirement. And there are so many promising young bishops who are just getting out of the bullpen.

Bishop Bruskewitz is 71 years old. But he seems like a man of 60, really. My dad is the same age and much more frail and far less active. Bishop Bruskewitz's hands are steady; his spine is straight; his step is lively; his voice is strong; his mind is sharp; his laughter is hearty; his love for Christ is still overflowing. It's hard to think about him being near retirement!
He comes from good stock. We have his sister here as well, a Franciscan, and she is similarly healthy, tireless, quick-witted and hard-working.
I have no doubt that, barring unforeseen health issues, if there is a need he will be allowed to stay on past his 73rd birthday (isn't that the age Bishops usually retire?). At the very least, if they install a new bishop here in Lincoln, I hope we will be able to keep our beloved Bishop Bruskewitz on as "Bishop Emeritus."

Canon Law requires that they submit their resignations on their 75th birthday.
How long they stay afterwards is up to the Holy See.
One Archbishop in Italy (if memory serves) was recently permitted to retire at 91. Although he was 78 when he was appointed to his see.
Greg, you or your dad might know who I'm talking about. I can't remember his name off the top of my head.

Greg, I'm from Lincoln. I'm dying of curiosity...how did you come to know of Bishop Bruskewitz?

By reputation. I had always known there was a really good bishop somewhere out in the midwest, but I didn't know too much about him. His reputation, combined nicely with some big stories of him calling a spade a spade, caused me to look more into him. I only ever liked what I saw.
That's pretty much it.

I am from the Lincoln Diocese also, and feel really blessed to be here. We have a bishop who isn't afraid to stand up for the faith as well as the majority of priest who are orthodox, holy men.

My home parish has that same high altar. This makes the third one I've seen. They must have been popular way back when.

Bruskewitz for Pope!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I am 65 and been married for 41yrs. Have seven children and a wonderful convert (from Luther) wife. I am of the Presley/Dean era and a notorious teenage rebel AND have survived and have grown to LOVE my Catholic Faith as I love JESUS our Lord and Founder our Creator in the flesh. God bless Bishop Bruskewitz!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A clear voice of truth in an age of silence, smoke and sissys.
