Gravatar Agreed. I posted a review at my page. For Firefly fans it's a must see. The deaths were pretty darn shocking, but I don't want to get into that without spoiling folks.

Good god, I want a sequel.

Gravatar i'm looking forward to this movie, too. always been an admirer of Buffy though i missed the boat on Firefly.

one thing does bother me though. all the Chinese culture allusions looks cool but isn't it kind of weird that there doesn't seem to be any Asian, let alone Chinese folks in the movie? i think one of the characters is "Asian-looking" but i have a hard time thinking that they couldn't find a single Asian actor/actress to fill a role. oh well. i'll just chalk it up to the usual Hollywood BS.

Joss gives a cool interview on CHUD.

might have to get the Firefly DVD after this flick.

Gravatar Hah, that other review sums up exactly what I thought of the TV show. Sounds like the movie is just the same. Good for fans of it, but for people who are Joss Whedon slobberers, it's unremarkable.

I hope they killed off some cast members, cause 9 is 3-4 too many. Especially since they all look alike.

Gravatar What TV series? Notice that there is NO mention of "Firefly" in the ads?

Gravatar I will agree that this is not a movie for people who go to the movies for the purpose of jacking off to celebrities. I can't think of anything else that any of the actors have been in, but I honestly don't care.

Gravatar I like the fact that the actors were not bigger than the story. That's one of the things that draws me to it. I'm there for the story.

Also, the Mrs. had pointed out too that the movie doesn't do much in the way of explaining the use of Chinese to newcomers. Probably the only thing that I can really think of as a negative regarding this film. That and like was stated previously, where are the descendants of the billions of today's Asians?

And Jeremy, "They all look alike"? Really? I'm not quite sure what you're referring to. Each character was different in personality and motivation and served a purpose.

Gravatar Did you stay all the way through the closing credits? Few people do, I'm sorry to say. If you do, you get a really nice acoustic guitar version of the TV theme.

Gravatar Got it Jason. Heard it during the screening. Just hoped it would have been "In the movie" so to speak.

Saw it again tonight.

This movie is all about the story and the people. It does lack a lot of the traditional movie transitional glory shots, but the story starts in high gear and doesn't slow down til the end.

To include those kinds of traditional cinema touches - would have meant to cut the plot up. Too many times in movies today, the plot and dialogue are given the short shrift. Not in Serenity. Had over 100 people there for tonights 4pm show. They seemed to enjoy it. I had fun listneing for the oohs and ahhs during the surprises that I new were coming. Not to mention the guffaws.
