I'm sorry this is all you've learned about Thanksgiving.

Prayers of Gratitude and Thanksgiving are so much more powerful and creative than a political or socioeconomic philosophy.

Not when you are starving to death.

In the US in 2005 "35.1 million people lived in households considered to be food insecure".

Evidence of "sharing or property rights"?

Mark 11:22-24 "Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it and it will be yours."

Philippians 4:6; "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God."

From the Kuran in Sura Fourteen it is written: "If you are grateful, I will give you more "(14:7)

From the Jewish tradistion in Psalms we find "O LORD my God, I will give thanks to you forever "(30:12) and "I will give thanks to the LORD with my whole heart "(9:1).

Look into the power of prayers of gratitude and thanksgiving across all religious traditions. In particular I encourage you to see that their are themes shared amongst traditions that seem universal. One is the creative power of prayers of gratitude. That creative power creates good. The power is refered to in Mark 11:22-24. You have that power.

What does that mean? How many of those people are obese? America is hardly starving. Giving the constancy of the percentage of people living in poverty it is time to remember Jesus' admonition, "The poor will always be with you." Probably because there will always be people who make bad choices in their lives. It is up to us to make sure that the children of these people survive and that we don't perpetuate the cycle of poverty by reinforcing their bad choices. IOW, we must teach them to fish.
