Fair's fair in the eyes of the law, but let's take a reality check here. To equate Bible study groups and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes with Gay-Straight Alliances is tantamount to comparing the Sistine Chapel with a strip joint.
Who's reality are you talking about here Ward? Are you saying that some ancient "sky-god" religion is more important than helping teens transition to healthy productive adults. It is this kind of thinking that has surpressed Western Culture, science and growth since the Dark Ages.
WARD, as part of YOUR reality check Michaelanglo, who started the Sistine Chapel in 1508, was a homosexual.

> "To equate Bible study groups and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes with Gay-Straight Alliances is tantamount to comparing the Sistine Chapel with a strip joint."
That is one of the most bigoted and ridiculous analogies I've read.
> "As their young charges act out, the ACLU and GLSEN couldn't care less about local community standards or adult supervision"
Now they are 'acting out'? Perhaps you prefer the days of them hiding in. And adult supervision is mandatory for these after school clubs.
> "As if America weren't besotted with enough sex on TV and in the movies, Gay-Straight Alliances seek to make homosexuality including the transgendered variety an in-your-face fixture at high schools."
How exactly are you connecting an after school social club with 'in your face'??

"Sexualizing" high school campuses? Oh, my! Bar the doors and keep the kids home.
I've read a lot of Ken Ward's asinine diatribes but this one fianlly exposes him for the fanatic that he is. The "logic" in his column reflects all of the maturity and insight of a Jimmy Swagert sermon.
What was his point? That high schools should deny the existence of gay students? That high school students have sex during gay-straight club meetings? Does he think sexuality issues wil go away if we just don't letstudents talk about them? How about the benefits of open discussion with adult participation?
This homophobic editorial goes on to single out a "Catholic college" for supporting "libertine lifestyles." What was THAT about? It sure sounds like a deliberate religious slam to me.
Ken Ward can't hide his bigotry by claiming to be concerned about high school morality when he readily acknowledges the "teen hormones that are already raging." Narrow-mindedness remains bigotry even when it stems from personal religious beliefs.

The first thing that will happen after creating these clubs is some teacher/sponsor will be accused of molesting one of the gay/straight students and the students lawyer will sue the school system for having approved this club. Guaranteed. Why else would the trial lawyers back it?

What are we talking about as far as tolerance goes? And morality? as the parent of teens I see no reason why in high school they should be offered a club that might suggest that a gay/lesbian lifestyle is a choice and not an inclination. I never knew there were gay people until I was in my early 20's and I think I'm as tolerant as they come but I draw the line at saying to teens it's ok to explore a gay/lesbian sex life as though it's completely normal and okay. Gay/lesbian does refer to sex considering it would be nothing more than a same sex friendship without those titles. At the very least parents are owed the chance to opt out as they are for regular sex education.

You don't have to surf very far to find explicit homosexual stuff on campus. This site brags about GSAs on m-i-d-d-l-e school campuses:
