First and fore-most, this is not good for the diving community. Especially with imminent lobster season.
Secondly, Decompression Illness/sickness IS NOT THE SOLE RESULT OF SUBVERTING THE RULES!!!! This CAN be a result, but more often than not it is the result of something else. A diver can observe ALL the saftey precautions and can still get "bent". This has happened a myriad times. I dare say that ignorance of the saftey guidelines is rarely this result. IT IS TOTALLY IR-RESPONSIBLE to write that DCI (Decompression Illness) is strickly the result of ignoring saftey rules. DCI is not a single result of carelessness, if that were so, it could be resolved prior to an incident! Lack of hydration has been documented as a leading factor in DCI. This author shows his extremly poor research with his one sentence.
