Actually, as an act of perversity, I would argue that this adds realism to the Aquaverse. A physically valid phonomena should be one that is either replicable and or else reoccurs on its own. From a literary perspective it might seem boring if the writer can't come up with new angles, but note that even here we are talking about stories that are 45 and 100 issues apart respectively at a time when it was assumed that comics were a kid's pastime, so it's not as though this angle was in danger of being run into the ground the way Kryptonite may have been.
