By "Pete's" do you mean "Peet's"?
Lewis Black had it right.

I'm a former Starbucks barista, and I'm still a fan.

Fiat Lux, you know there isn't really anything wrong with Starbucks other than their being everywhere you look. If there's a better alternative, Peet's or Caribou (in the Midwest), I'll go there. But Starbucks is usually fine.
I just like to rib the Green Giant.

Only two Starbucks (several miles apart) appear in my routine life, and they are inoffensive to me. (I don't patronize them; I'm a longtime patron of a wonderful local outfit called the Baltimore Coffee Company, which imports its own raw coffee beans and roasts them on the premises!)
However, I recognize Starbucks for what it is: a bunch of money-addicted weasels who are terrified that there's a single dollar in this world that doesn't belong to them. Such enterprises, despite whatever peaks they may hit, typically end badly.
