Gravatar For the first time ever, a major party's nominee will -- not might -- be a woman or a person of color. That's chill bump territory.

Yes indeedy. Watching the Obama video, it occurred to me that if we win in November, it'll be a real "Yes, We Can" moment--whoever the nominee is.

Gravatar Another persuasive case, Kathy. But you nailed it with "an embarrassment of riches," which is just what I think Hillary and Obama intended to acknowledge with their conciliatory debate the other night.

As for deranged right-wingers, how about the receptionist at Mary's dentist today swearing that she and her husband will move to Canada if that wicked Hillary should become president.

That's a bluff I'd love to see called.

ahab, that's a "don't let the door hit you in the ass on your way out" moment. Thanks, both of you.

What, with the socialized medicine, non-militarist foreign policy, high taxes and same-sex marriage? Like all wingnuttery, it has its ignorance built right in.

Gravatar I'm for whichever candidate will prosecute the greater number of war criminals.

Gravatar Kathy,

great post. I ended up voting for obama but I'm happy to see hillary take the prize. I, too, think they are both great candidates. But I have to say that I didn't see much historic excitement at my polling places. I kind of thought peple would be more giggly.

Gravatar aimai, when I was actually voting, I didn't think that much about it, being in a hurry to get to a meeting. It didn't hit me till later when I had some time to reflect.

How did your day go? Did everything run smoothly? Are you exhausted?

Gravatar Kathy,
I love the internet and all but it would be fun to be able to get together IRL and have a cup of coffee and hash it out, wouldn't it? I'm so tired I can hardly stand it. And you hurt in all these strange places--the side of my right hand where I must have used the same finger to flick through thousands of ballots? the old ladies told me I should have brought a "step counter" so I could rack up points as I circled the tables doing the absentee ballots. Its not that its physically difficult its that its demanding of muscles you don't often use for a length of time you don't often do stuff (not if you're lucky, that is).

It was fun thinking of all my internet buddies voting and knowing I'd get to chat about it aftewards, though.
