I am old enough to remember the actual events (the killings, the vigil, the Twinkie Defense). At the time, I didn't have any sense of who Milk and Moscone really were. They were just two more politicians in a long line of American politicians and activists who had been murdered during my lifetime -- and I was barely out of my teens. And then I saw The Times of Harvey Milk. I openly wept, and I was not the only one in the audience rummaging around for tissues.

I was at a free Talking Heads show in Sproul Plaza when I heard the news from a friend. Weird times for the Bay Area--remember, this was just 11 days after Jonestown. Haven't seen the movie yet, but I can guarantee I won't be dry-eyed when I do.

They definitely show how the Jonestown news affected everything that happened.
