Joe Lieberman is a narcissistic horse's ass. With any luck, two years from now a strengthened Dem Senate majority will cut him adrift.

That's exactly what I'm hoping. I would love to see him have no power at all.

He thinks he's the Lorax? He speaks for the trees? How about speaking for the soldiers who are fighting and dying for a lie, Joe? What a delusional, self-righteous ass.

Yeah, I thought that was a really weird quote...it just makes no sense at all.
(That said, I do give Lieberman credit for being good on environmental issues. But still.)

I joined up yesterday with a handful of folks who are holding a once-a-week "Out of Iraq" vigil/visibility in the center of our town during the evening rush hour. One thing that was remarkable was -- especially compared to a couple of years ago when we did this -- the quantity and the demographics of the positive responses from people driving by. But to the point of the post, I spoke with a woman whose son has served one tour in Iraq and is stateside getting ready to go back (the reality of the "surge" hits home). When she asked him about what they hear from back home about public opinion on the war (e.g., whether some one who feels the way I do is "aiding the enemy", as Joe Lieberhorsesass would have you believe), he responded, "Mom, I don't have a lot of time to listen to NPR over there." As you point out, any posturing on either side over here has zero effect on the conduct of this war, but if Lieberman is willing to have American blood on his hands by helping prolong the war, then I'm happy to pin it on him.

Interesting. I wouldn't imagine stateside opinion would be the top priority...for US soldiers or the insurgents.

Lieberman is pretty good on environmental issues, assuming the issues aren't in Iraq.
Which, you know, is sort of funny but it's not. Certainly a war does long term environmental damage, and a war without justification does more since there's no real cause to offset the damage.
Additionally, Lieberman voted (I believe) for the final energy bill during 2006, which was an abomination. And someone can correct me, but I don't htink Lieberman's been any kind of leader at all on global warming.
I don't have anything against Joe Lieberman, per se, except for the blood on his hands. I was peoud of Connecticut Democrats in the primary, and I was proud of Chris Dodd by sticking with them and not Lieberman.
And it's not like I'll feel anything one way or the other, except relief, the day the Democratic Party can shove him out of the car.
