If Hillary and Michelle were at all decent, they would be urging us to get into all kinds of pointless, unprovoked, and unwinnable wars in the Middle East.
Well, the one thing the right can't stand is an uppity woman. Michelle is an incredible speaker and has a powerful, charismatic, charming presence. How they will hate her when she is first lady.

Yeah, well, I've been figuring that this particular mode of attack would be coming if/when Obama became the front-runner or candidate. It was painfully obvious to me that Michelle Obama - who speaks her mind, is well informed on the issues, appears to have ambitions of her own and commits the cardinal sin of not standing silently behind her man at press conferences until she needs to be trotted out to prove he's not a philandering liar - was going to be tarred as the next "Hillary". And then, by extension, Obama would be the next "Bill".
They did it once, why not go for a second time? It poisons the well for her so that just in case she decides she has political ambitions of her own she has a harridan-harpy-hyperambitious-shrew image hurdle to overcome to get elected to office. It links the Obamas to the Clintons in the minds of people who are voting for Obama because they don't like the Clintons. And it gets at the sexist bits of the Dem base who really don't like "uppity wimmin" any more than their Republican counterparts do. It's all gravy for the Republicans -- linking Obama and Clinton together is all plusses and no minuses as far as the lizard brains are concerned.
If Ledeen isn't lying[*] and it really did "just strike him" then he's even dumber than I've ever given him credit for. And I have long assumed that various stumps found in the public park were probably more intelligent than Michael Ledeen.
[*] I also always assume that Ledeen is lying. So it may have "just struck him" in the sense that it "just struck him" that now was the time to start flogging this.
