hint: it starts with "no" and ends with "fucking way"
Soo uncivil Tom.
I am beginning to wonder what some think victory in Iraq is, because it seems that they never want us to leave.

I don't suppose that either of these historical geniuses has the audacity to suppose that the Boer wars had anything to do with bringing "democracy" and "freedom" into the heart of darkness? Do they even pretend anymore that that's the supposed justification for their Iraqi adventurism? Is Trevino, for example, prepared to concede that, in strategy as well as in the tactics he hopes to borrow, the Boer wars -- which were over gold, purely and simply -- were "conflicts of similar nature" to the Iraq war?
And speaking of tactics, Trevino's familiar with the Morice Line, but has he ever heard of the Maginot Line? He should probably read up on that one.

They're not only completely incapable of defining 'victory'; they don't even try. The very thing they claim to be in favor of is entirely irrelevant to their violent fantasies of eternal war.
I don't suppose that either of these historical geniuses has the audacity to suppose that the Boer wars had anything to do with bringing "democracy" and "freedom" into the heart of darkness?
Oh, I'm sure they would disclaim it...but on some level, that's probably just what they think.

Don't they define "victory" as "kicking ass"? And isn't that always why they blame the left and the press (when it opts to heft some stones) for the U.S.'s failure of will--because both often get dragged into wars but neither has the black heart for out-and-out decimation?
