We have only seen this one in bloom once over all the years we've been hiking down around Ashland, Oregon, or anywhere else. Always fields of the foliage, but never the blooms.
They're unusual looking, exotic.

I've seen them more than once, but not frequently--I get the feeling the bloom doesn't last long. I saw lots that hadn't blossomed yet, and lots that were well past their prime, but only a few in between.

Why is it--I mean, I post wildflowers too...really. OK I took it in our garden--but your's always look so-ooo-ooo much better!
