Gravatar They do find their ideal candidates, don't they, Tom? Can and will the senate stop this one?

Gravatar What's disturbing to me is that the Senate hearing seems to be barking up the wrong tree; i.e., more worried that he'll be politically pressured by the White House like Carmona was than that this guy is a ticking time bomb of hate and misinformation that the White House can just sit back and watch do their politcal dirty work for them without prompting.

The office of surgeon general used to be one of the least politicized; is there any little piece of American governance they won't poison?

Gravatar "...is there any little piece of American governance they won't spoison?"

No. (I know it was a rhetorical question.)

You and Tom must be very proud of your parents; as a lifelong UM who has beaten my head against the brick wall of LGBT equality for several years (albeit nowhere near their level of commitment and visibility), I have the greatest respect for their determination and perseverance.

Tom, linked back to you here.

The big question the Senate committee is dealing with is whether Holsinger can separate his personal beliefs from his role as Surgeon General.

Have you been reading Kate Harding on how doctors treat fat patients? Because it's so obvious that they can't keep their beliefs separate; even if they want to.

Gravatar Steve, I agree--I think Carmona's testimony was a hook too good for them to resist. In fairness, they did go into the 1991 paper last week.

Kathy, thanks (and thanks for the plug at Pam's)! Yeah, I'm pretty proud of the folks--they're much better people than I am.

De, your link isn't working for me.
