Maybe we deserve the comments that stereotype republicans as racist when you understand what the word means. Treat or classify according to a mental stereotype sorry but Muslims were stereotyped in Debbie's comment. You cannot say we are not racist except when it comes to Muslims, we are racist when it come to Muslims and what is wrong with that after what they have done?

An excellent article, Gentle Cricket, and your advice to Obama is good. I stated in a post at The Debate Team, that I believe race will play a very small part in the 2008 elections, because I believe we have grown past that. I believe that when it comes time to pull that lever in the voting booth, the majority of folks will vote the the right person, whether they are white, or black, or any other nationality OR whether they are Christian, Jew or even Mormon.

I have one exception to that, if the candidate were to be Muslim, I could not vote for them.

I could be wrong, with Obama talking this way, race may indeed play a role. I sure hope not.

Excellent article. I so totally agree with you on this. I bleieve that playing the race-card has worked for a long time for the Dems and now they will be pulling out all the stops!!!
