Just look at the way liberals and conservatives view government to help people. Liberals push for high taxes and government welfare type programs and other "entitlements". Conservatives prefer low taxes and then give freely to charity. Compare the tax returns of Bush Cheney et al. to Clinton, Kerry and company. The liberal view point is basically no individual responsibility, the government handles everything and the conservative view is just the opposite.
