I found your site while attempting to search for a citation regarding the "Odd Man Out Rule" which you chose to reference. It is actually a mathematical theorem that has been applied to instances of everyday life, such as your experience with your family of Republicans. Essentially, in any given set or sub-set of individuals or a "family" of individuals, there is bound to be one "odd man out" given a set of characteristics. Obviously, you stand out as the exception in a political context, while I was in a group of four yesterday at lunch here in Lantana, Florida; three of us were wearing yellow while one was wearing a blue top. I remarked that she was the "odd man out" of the group, but the others were not familiar with the maxim. I was searching for an example of the use of the term and you came up with an apt use. Thank you very much from a hard-line, right-wing Republican. Jeff H. Auslander

Well said. I was looking for information on Bristle Face by Zachary Ball. I remember reading it as a kid over here in Scotland.
I enjoyed reading your post, I only wish more of your countrymen agreed with you.

Thank you, haribo. Yesterday I read the next to last chapter of Bristle Face to my fourth grade students. As usual I choked up a bit -- as did some of the kids! I read it to my students every year. My yearly read is The Lions Paw by Robb White.
