Looks as thought we have some other things in common. I was hiking there just a couple of weeks ago. The difference in me and you, however, is I can't name the flora.

Truth be told, Parson, most of the names of the plants I only learned last weekend from my expert friends! I MAY remember a few of them next week!

Thanks for the well-illustrated walk! I enjoyed seeing Georgia trout-lilies; the species we have in N. Missouri (Erythronium albidum) has white flowers. The species you photographed occurs in the the southernmost counties of Missouri.

What a magnificent place. Incredible that all those were blooming at once. What's the variation in elevation there?

Hi Terrell:
I am also a middle aged guy (if 130 years can be expected) and a big Obama supporter. I also have a big swimming holes website (see above) and was wondering if people still swim in the Blue Hole at Pigeon Mountain.

Thanks for stopping by, Tom. I enjoyed exploring your swimming hole site for a while. I suspect folks swim at Blue Hole. I doubt it is encouraged by the DNR that administers the Wildlife Management Area that it is a part of. It is a small pool.
If you guys can put Obama over the top in Virginia, that should do it!
