Gravatar Did you hear about the left-wing extremist - a Muslim convert - who shot up an army recruitment center in Little Rock last week - killing a soldier and injuring another? For some reason that wasn't talked about much in the news - and I don't believe Obama released a statement about it like he did about the murder of the abortion-provider. Was there national coverage of the soldier's funeral? Murder seems to be important in the news when the publicity of it can help the left.

Since you feel that the government should keep tabs on right-wing extremists, do you also believe they should also keep tabs on left-wing whackos like Jeremiah Wright, William Ayers, Dave Letterman, Playboy Magazine (to name only a few) - all of whom have mentioned doing harm to conservatives?

It is revealing to note that the very people who claimed invasion of privacy when Bush wanted to keep tabs on people with known terrorist ties, now don't see anything wrong with Obama's administration targeting folks - as long as they're on the right side of the political aisle.

I've long wondered how democrats and/or liberals can remain sane with their fundamentally contradictory beliefs. You believe one thing - you do the opposite. It makes for psychosis. i.e. Life is sacred - unless it's a defenseless baby in a woman's womb. Then it's fine - because that's a woman's choice.

Someone else expressed the absurdity better than I can: "I wouldn't kill an abortionist myself, but I wouldn't want to impose my moral values on others. No one is for shooting abortionists. But how will criminalizing men making difficult, often tragic, decisions be an effective means of achieving the goal of reducing the shootings of abortionists?

Following the moral precepts of liberals, I believe the correct position is: If you don't believe in shooting abortionists, then don't shoot one." (Ann Coulter)

Very few pregnancies are the result of rape or incest. Bringing up rape and incest is merely an attempt to get people to react with emotions rather than looking at the issue rationally. Killing the abortion-provider was wrong. However, the abortion-provider regularly gouged out the brains of babies and then dismembered them to get them out of the mother's body.

Your comment that left-wing extremists do little more than hug trees or pour fake blood on furs is deliberately obtuse. A statement like that is good for marginalizing the right, but it is inaccurate. One study found that 74 % of murders done by terrorists are from left-wingers. You can look it up. Those murders don't get as much attention, however.

I would dare say that right-wingers have done more to help the environment than left-wingers. Instead of hugging trees, they're more prone to planting them. Talking about saving the environement makes one feel good but doing something is what counts. Rather like our president who publicly shames business executives for extravagant living, but then he

Where to start?

Since when are violent Islamic extremists left-wing?
Is it possible to be more conservative as a Muslim than to be Taliban or Al Qaeda?

Yes we should keep track of anyone who threatens violence. That was my point. It is not responsible right-wingers or even irresponsible blow-hards like Coulter & Limbaugh that the govt or I were talking about. They and I are talking about right-wing EXTREMISTS -- those who have and do threaten mayhem -- like the violent radical Islamists, violent anti-abortion radicals, violent racists, violent neo-nazis, etc. One of the government's primary duties is to protect the population from violence. I am unaware of any of the folks you mentioned - Letterman, Wright, et al - threatening violence. If Jeremiah Wright, David Letterman, Terrell Shaw, Sam, Rush Limbaugh or Ann Coulter begin threatening violence then, yes, our government should pay attention. You will find no one who will scream louder than I if the government does not follow Constitutional procedures in doing so.

The tree hugger reference was overly cute I admit. I realize that there have been violent left-wingers. Violent communists, violent "Simbinanese Liberation Army" nuts, etc. But RIGHT NOW, and for most of my life, violent radicals in America are mostly right-wing whether they are VIOLENT Christians or VIOLENT Muslims or VIOLENT atheists. If you have the statistic of 74% left-wing terrorists in America, I would sure like to know the source. There was a time in our history when domestic left-wing extremists were a big problem. I've paid pretty close attention during my 62 years and I think when you add up klan lynchings, neo-nasi violence, Tim McVeigh types, Eric Rudolph types, White Citizen Council types, (not even counting ultra-right-wing Muslim violence) there ain't no contest (to use the colloquial, not literally but for emphasis).

Abortion. Oh, me.
I can understand the upset of the right over the abortion rate, I share it. But, Lord, what a contradiction is such concern for the state protecting the "preborn" and so little concern for protecting lives "post-birth."

I am personally appalled at the idea of casual or convenience abortion. Abortion really should be rare and legal. I would strongly - vehemently - advise against any abortion except in the case of danger to the life of the woman, extreme deformity of the fetus, or incest or rape. In those cases - perhaps rare as a percentage of pregnancies, but no less real to the real women involved - I would drive my wife or daughter to the clinic and hold her hand during the procedure. And we need, despite the terrorists, a few folk around the country brave enough to care for those girls and women who find themselves with late term pregnancies like those. Try to obstruct the right of my daughter to abort the results of rape and incest and I might be tempted to get a little violent myself. You might want to notify Homeland Secu
