Well said. I suspect much of this carping about the left's laxity in belaboring the evils of terrorism reflects a desperate realization by those on the right. It's come home to them how out of favor Republicans generally, neocons especially, have made themselves with their economic Darwinism, cronyism, corruption and, maybe most of all, their costly, deadly, jingoistic nonsense.
Lashing out with more-patriotic-than-thou rhetoric is about all they have left.
Your post brought to mind a scene from "Arrowsmith," in which the citizenry takes to Main Street for a parade to demonstrate public enthusiasm and resolve — against tuberculosis. Never made much sense, but hey, they showed spirit.
