I personally believe that there is little chance that Obama will win the general election, but I guess we'll find out for sure in November.
I haven't had a chance to watch or listen to the news at all yet today. So I hadn't heard of the issue with Clinton and Blitzer.

Thanks for your comment, Carol. Of course you may prove correct. I think the Republicans made the best choice they could (in terms of electability) given the Republican disaster of the last eight years.
Still Republicans are saddled with a war that should not have been waged, an economy in the doldrums, $4 gasoline, a president who is the least popular in modern times, a record of disdain for the Bill of Rights, and a horribly damaged national reputation after Abu Ghraib, Quantanamo, rendition, waterboarding, "Bring 'em on", "Mission Accomplished", etc., etc., etc.
The Democratic Party has a candidate with an inspiring personal history, wonderfully inspiring leadership and speaking skills, a brilliant intellect, a moderately progressive and well-developed platform, a message of reconciliation and positive change, and a deep reverence for American ideals.
Any political scientist would agree, I think, that all of that should spell victory for the Democratic ticket. But political scientists have a history of being dead wrong in projecting election results. Of course, we can be hurt by silly politics like the Obama campaign's response to the Clinton reference to previous campaigns lasting into June. Those of us old enough will never forget that the Kennedy campaign of 1968 lasted into June. IMO only someone with a blind prejudice toward Hillary Clinton or ulterior motives could interpret her words as Wolf and other media sensationalists have.
You may remember that I was a part of the official welcoming committee for Bobby Kennedy at the Louisville Airport in 1968 when Bobby flew in to campaign in the Indiana primary. Decked out in a ridiculous campaign hat and sash, I and other campaign workers were in the receiving line there. I suppose I was chosen for that role because I was President of the tiny Young Democrats group at my college -- or maybe it was just my youth and good looks? I shook his and Ethel's hands just a month before his murder in California. Hillary Clinton's obvious point was that the searing memory of that assassination reminds us that vigorous campaigns can last into June.
It is possible that the "swiftboat" artists will find a way to defeat Obama on their own. They will be much more likely to succeed if they have the unintended collaboration of the previously-mentioned "firing squad".
