How cute! I'm sorry I wasn't home for the squirrel adventure.

Gravatar Amazing! I live in a squirrel-free neighborhood probably thanks to the many cats and dogs... hope the little guy survives.

Gravatar Thanks Granny and Sheila. It was a hoot. What fun! I know I looked like a mad man zigzagging around the yard playing tag with a squirrel.

Gravatar Can we keep it?! Pleeeeeease? I've always wanted a domesticated squirrel. I'm not even kidding. They're adorable!

Gravatar Keeping a domesticated squirrel is serious business. Haven't you folks ever read Charlie and the Chocolate Factory? A girl tries to get a pet squirrel in that and it sends her down the garbage chute.

Gravatar Incredible story. Where is the squirrel now?

Gravatar Fantastic post. Lucky you.

Gravatar But Cheyenne, Veruca Salt tried to steal one of Willy Wonka's squirrels, and I would never attempt something so audaciously impudent.

Gravatar What a great story! I bet it was pretty funny to see you dancing around. I really liked the video, as well as the post.

Gravatar If that isn't precious I don't know what is. Cute as can be. A memorable experience and delightful video.

I would be cautious, though. The term "squirrely" rings true for a reason. Friendliness, curiosity and playfulness can turn to fright and bite in a split second, should something spook the little guy. No maliciousness to it, just instinct and reflex.

A few years ago, a bit later in spring, I had the wonderful experience of watching a mama squirrel take her young ones for what must've been one of their first outings, if not the first. She herded them down a tall pine, along a branch and onto the fence, which they traversed for quite a distance before going down to the ground to scavenge for peanuts.

Two of the little ones were bigger and more adventurous. The third was small and not so ready for the big world and defying gravity from high places. But mama doubled back, fussed and coaxed, and along he came, although he sort of straggled through the whole adventure. I wish I had had a video camera handy at the time.

Gravatar Thanks Lil, Cheyenne, Carol, Steve, Lisette, And SW.

Steve I was quite impressed with those squirrels in your neck of the woods. With those ear-tufts they look in a constant state of unreserved alarm!! Those of you who haven't seen Steve's squirrels should check them out -- and the spring flowers foamed with snow.

Cheyenne and Lil, is C&CF a part of Mercer's Great Books program or something?

Are there squirrels in Kenya, la Ceti?

I knew you'd have another squirrel story, SW. They are entertaining little critters!

Gravatar Terry, that was such a sweet story. The squirrel is adorable. I'm curious too, where is it now??? You have probably found a friend for life.

Gravatar Thanks, Jane. I forgot to mention that my neighbors, Jeannie & Welton are having some work done on their house. One of the workers had raised an orphaned squirrel in the past and agreed to take care of this one. Later that day I found a sibling to the first squirrel, but it was not so bold and wouldn't let me near.
