Yarnival is making Travis a star--can I borrow him to come over and knit me some socks sometime? He sounds both thorough and determined, not to mention that he looks, well . . . secure in his masculinity. ;^)

You are so lucky to have a husband who knits. I wish mine did. I tried teaching him once. He got about 12 inches into a scarf and chucked it. He does have a better appreciation for what I do though.

Tell Travis that from one guy knitter to another, he's hardcore. I love that he busts out the knitting history lesson when told that knitting isn't manly, cause I totally do that too. I pretty much have a 5 minute speech prepared that I'll give anyone who questions why a guy would want to knit. Oh, and it helps to wave the sharp pointy sticks around a lot too
So Travis? Keep up the knitting, cause it really doesn't matter if anyone else thinks it's weird, as long as you have a good time doing it. Plus, those people will be sad in a bit when they realize you have the coolest scarves/socks/etc. around, and that you're not going to share the love with people who thinking knitting isn't manly.

I just found your site (linked from the Harlot's) and you are now on my daily must reads. OMG, you slay me with your wit and insight. BTW, I will totally second the gay men don't knit thing, I have only gotten "you've got to be kidding" looks when I generously offered the basics. Start working on your book and tour, because I'm in for a dozen!

Very cool that Travis is knitting. Even cooler that he's proud of his work and not afraid to whip it out (his knitting, of course) at lunch with the guys.
Here's an idea...seems how Sock is a little crazy how about befriending him and putting him on stash patrol. Huh? Huh? Good idea, no? Maybe you could knit him some sexy little girl socks to win him over. Travis won't dare go near your stash then. LOL
Glad the newlyweds are having such a rockin time!

But ah, do me a favor, tell sock that he's kinda cute in his total utilitarian style, what with breaking in, and uh, yeah and ah, not cuddeling. And his yella color.
Freakin cookey, something tells me that you and Travis are well suited for one another.

Where did "manly sock" find "Sandal tramp"? Too funny. By the way, I hope your relationship is a solid one. Florida is a 50-50 state. I don't think I need to spell out what that means for "the Stash"!!!

You know - my kids are in the room while I read your blog and I don't appreciate your sock getting down and dirty with a common little parking lot tramp for the world to see! Geez! I understand the socks 'desires' but come on!
Nice work Travis - even though your sock is a man slut. Is that even a term? Oh well - good work anyway!

Good looking AND a knitter? You are the luckiest girl, EVER! (And he is so lucky to have YOU!)
You know, my husband once wanted to crochet "for the children" (whatever that means - we were in college) and we tried a bit, but he has big man hands and it didn't go so well. But I brought home "Knitting Lingerie Style" the other night. He flipped through it, eyes wide and mouth agape, and then said, "You know, maybe I should learn how to knit."
I love husbands who love knitters who love yarn.

Way to go Travis!!!! You totally rock! I am so glad that you didn't let those idiots get to you. Knitting has so many awesome qualities(as you are now finding out I am sure).
As for all of your wonderful pictures...You guys look like you are in Heaven! Thanks for sharing such a special time in your lives with us.
I was totally in shock when I saw the Harlot's blog though. I hadn't read yours yet and had to do a second take when I saw you there showing off your "big pink things" LOL. How absolutely cool! I am all shades of green with envy Alyson.
A great, KNITTING, husband(mine rocks but he doesn't knit), Harlot sightings, Harlot conversations, pictures of and with the Harlot, pictures on the Harlot's blog. So totally envious.

I forgot to mntion that there was a male doctor in the town I live in who used to knit and design his own sweaters -- he was a big burly man, quite a rugged outdoorsy type ... he and his wife would both design and knit their own sweaters. He did beautiful work -- passed away at about 50 years old from a devastating illness ... his children and step kids cherish the sweaters he designed and made for himself and for them.

I can see Heddy's T knitting. (He used to ride a unicycle, you know. He'd do it to be different!)
Yes, many moons ago it was the men who did the knitting. That's conveniently forgotten, so it seems.
I don't recall having any male knitters in the store yet, or at least not when I've been working. We do, however, have a few that do tapestry and rug hooking. (And they're married men, btw.) I have tried to get two of my gay male friends to knit, and they have no interest at all. As a matter of fact I think one was going to slap me at the mere suggestion...

ROFLOL ... apparently Sock ain't the only one who's crazy, aiete? LOL!
I think it is cool that Travis is now a knitter (and he's a good knittere too -- the mini-me "kill Bill' is a cute little sock -- is he gonna make a Second sock, so you can help him through SSS? Plus, you can put Sock and his mate away for little Yo-Yo's that might come along in years to come) ... I really want my T to learn (I think the whole knitting thing can Zen you out, and destress you!) I'd even share some of my stash with my hubby if he'd learn to knit (none of the 'good stuff' but some of the stuff that I bought when I was on crack -- that would be ok!). I think I could convince him to try it sometime, and you know how instantly addictive knitting is!
Welcome back! Loved the shots of the Ferry, if you click through the series really quick, you can almost see the land on the horizon drawing closer in real time!! Tee Hee! Looks like you had fun though!
