Thank you for mentioning Tibet and its native peoples there.
It doesn't really make sense: China so colonizing Tibet. Sure, relocation of Chinese is good, when they are moving cities to more productive agricultural lands. But, to relocate clear over to Tibet makes no economic sense.
The actions seem to be revolutionary and meant to destroy a cultural group.

The silence is strange and sad. Makes you miss the days of the Cold War, when nations still stood for something, however misguided it was. Personally, I can't see why anyone would watch the Olympics in the first place, but holding them in China is ridiculous. I commented here before about Israel (more about pro-Israelis than pro-Israeli government), but at least the Israeli government has the decency not to try to host the Olympics.

I dont think those building stadiums, etc, looked full of Nationalistic pride. They look more like forced laborers to me, always watching their behinds.
Such a shame for such great workers, such a wonderful people!

When trying to find the truth of any situation, always ask not just 'why', but also 'why NOW?'.
There is one thing that bothers me about this situation - aside from the 60 year Communist Chinese (yeah, don't forget they are a communist government, and that history shows us what communist governments will do. Remember Pol Pot?) occupation of a soverign nation - and that is why the world was silent on this issue for so long. Nobody gave a crap about Tibet until Tibetan buddhism was established in the west. Or is it just that nobody cared in the past because both countries were poor then? Or...?
Often, those who have the power to manipulate events do so based on timing considerations - like Bush thumping his drum about Iran to take attention away from his total failure in Iraq. So one should always ask "why at this time?". Often the answer to that one question will explain most of the current situation.
