And of course I should not forget to mention the U.K and all the other nations that have been affected by these conflicts...
This is yet another secret of the Bush administration. Look up the numbers of deaths caused by the 1991 "War". Now, we have hundreds of thousands more men and women in need of help that they probably won't get. We send our young, idealistic and loving children to another nation to kill people. If they don't die in the battle field, many die a slow, tormented death when they get out of uniform. Others suffer for the rest of their lives for the acts committed by "leaders", who told them what they were doing was good for the U.S.! The major point I cannot understand is why hasn't someone, group, party, whatever, brought Cheny AND Bush up on charges. They have made us a more hated nation worldwide, "W" has been the best recruiter for the "terrorists" ever! Why hasn't some decent senator called for impeaching these two "home-grown" terrorists, to borrow one of their terms. The country would stand behind whoever has the guts to demand impeaching the two figureheads in this evil cabal of chicken-hawks. Send them off to war, then not allow them to own firearms when they return. Ever wonder why they don't want experienced warriors having weapons? Pretty obvious, one should think.
Being a survivor of a marriage very marked by the disablity the Viet Nam war caused in my home, I know too well what disability can entail.
I say to the new disabled vet and his/her family, live and work for change if you can, if it is possible for you right now.
That's a lot of folks who'll be limited in their ability to contribute economically to their families or the economy. At the same time they will need payments, services, etc. from the economy (taxes), and so will many of their families - in terms of counseling services for the new loss and burden on them. The cost of Bush's Folly will go on for 60 years now, even if we end it tomorrow.

There are bound to be much more disabilities from soldiers having trouble with the mental and emotional strains of the war and seeing friends injured or killed.
