Gravatar This is proof of the deliberate genocide being perpetrated by U.S. forces in Iraq and Afganistan and soon to occur--Iran. This Bush Gang is a bunch of psycopathic killers ordering goons to kill innocents just like Manson ordered his gang to kill their victims! People should be furious about this and begin to really push this whole criminal gov't. and system(capitalism) out of power by launching a massive nationwide General Strike! Get rid of this creepy rotten government with its filthy capitalist edifice!

Gravatar Surprise, suprise. Just like in Viet Nam and My Lai, war makes people into crazy murderers. Around 90% of troops in Iraq still think that they are avenging Saddam's involvement in 9-11. What an asshole nation! You can't be that brutal and stupid. Unbelievable!

Gravatar 911 was done by the government,If not why did building #7 come down and was never hit by anything. The owner Silverstien said pull it to the firemen which means emplode it,No one can load a 47 story building in just a few hours. There is eye witness who say thay head explotions befor the so call plane hit the first building. So when you people wake up take that bunch of outlaws in the white house and give them the same treatment that they give the prisnors they now have had for years in prison with no charges

Gravatar Blood for nothing, and checks for free. While the stupid are going mad, and kill Iman Hassan's mom, dad, grandma, grandpa, cousin and uncles, while this is happening, wishfull-thinking Americans prepare to vote for the Democrats in the next election.

STOP THE SOLDIERS!!!

Gravatar "You can't be that brutal and stupid. Unbelievable!"
john

John, evidently they can. Just when one thinks we have seen the most debased behaviour, they manage to sink even lower!

Words fail me.

Gravatar ENOUGH EMOTIONAL POSTING, S'IL VOUS PLAIT . (that is "PLEASE", in french)

This is now a criminal trial . We need to keep an eye on it to see what happens next.

As with Abu Graibh, and Fallujah, and so much else, those who had already informed themselves knew this and much more long before.

Very early reports ( a day or so later) from Iraqi Police Officers gave us the news. SIX months later, why get so excited ?

One small hope in this murderous tale is that there are still vestigial elements in the US Press, the US Army, the US judicial system, and America as a whole, which while they do not ALL outright condemn the Occupation of a non- hostile country, which presented absolutely no threat to the USA, DO have serious values as to how soldiers should behave.

( In legal language, and I forget my Latin, there is a 'just war' and a 'war conducted justly' according to the rules of War.)

Gravatar Who wants to bet nobody is prosecuted? Or they'll prosecute, sentence the solder(s) and quietly release them when nobody (except the internet) is watching. They first control the wars, then they ban books like "America Deceived" by E.A. Blayre III from B&N and Amazon then they crush the patriots left. Here's the last link before Google Books gets into line:

http://www.iuniverse.com/booksto...n=0-595-38523- 0

Gravatar If the Iraqi government is "a model democracy for the rest of the Middle East," let's allow the Iraqi courts to try these men for their crimes.

Gravatar the big corporate mainstream media (liberal?--lol) has always turned a blind eye to Iraqi witness reports in favour of the laughable Pentagon/public relations talking points.

If it wasn't for the soldiers in Abu Graib who took photos then the media would have ignored the Iraqis who are witnesses to these tragic events.

Looks like the same cowards who defend US actions in their illegal occupation are too hubristic and myopic to admit they got it all wrong.

the paper tiger will leave once again, disgraced as it was in Vietnam

Gravatar When you are put in a un-real situation anything can happen such as this crime. I dont care what others think I do feel for the boys in the marines and I mean boys. The real criminals are the officers and the people who press the buttons.I hate the usa

Gravatar raven .. these boys are adults .. and am sure they know what they did was murder in the first degree

but i agree with you on bringing the real terrorists in the white house to justice

Gravatar "The events threaten to land a major blow to the US military’s reputation in Iraq."

Do occupiers -whoever they are- ever have a good reputation?

What are history books for?

Such a stupid stupid statement.

What this would do is to hurt America's reputation in the world - not Iraq. And what about the other occupiers?

Gravatar What is absurd is that Murtha and others think that we can somehow repair our reputation in Iraq and 'win hearts and minds.' We lost Iraq on April 23, 2003, in Fallujah, by shooting on peaceful demonstrators who just wanted their occupied school back. Our reputation with Iraqis has been going downhill ever since, and will not recover until we are long gone from there. And of course, if we really were trying to simply give the Iraqis democracy, we'd have left when the first polls indicated that the vast majority of Iraqis wanted us OUT. Whether we leave now, or in ten years, we will leave a nation in ruins and chaos. Good work!

Gravatar we all know that nothing will be done. the ameicans will find a way to choke this up to experience just like every other war. the thing we need to do is get rid of americas veto powers. then maybe we can find a way to stop them. otherwise this zionist run govt will continue to destroy the world. and kill generations of ppl without even laying a finger again on that nation. for their wmd have done the work for them. a nation is totally destroyed while the bushniks r laffing at the world. this is our world order america against everyone and they will always win because they terrorise others. and make sure that others r blamed for it. enuff is enuff. i say hang the bastards and get it over with.

Gravatar A Barvarian is a barbarian no matter how you term him. Bush, Cheney, Ramsfeld and the rest of the neocons in the Republican and Democratic Parties have been and they are still BARBARIANS, Killers, Liars, cheaters but they are not to be blemed for their BARBARITY, it is the Americams as a whole must be blemed for not revolting against those BARBARIANS to drive them out of power and restore the good name of America which now in the SHITT.

Gravatar If justice prevailed under Capitalism?

All invading and occupying soldiers would be unceremoniously returned home in a body bags!

Every supporter of military occupation would be placed in a body bag and zippered up! Along with supporting war industry profiteers, oil company executives bankers, politicians not actively trying their best to prevent war all the way to the commander and thief of the USA Britain and now Canada!

If killing people was a solution? This would be a good start!

But refusing to participate in mass murder in the first place and establishing a production For Use, 'Not for Profit' World economy, based on Democratic Social ownership of the world's productive resources would lead to a world worthwhile for all humanity! Click on my home page for more details in-depth!

Gravatar If White American people learn: White is superior, then these killings happen.
Bush and the American government overestimated themselves. The US are landed in a downward spiral since 1999. The American leadership and the American financial elite know. The American hegemonic position is fading away. In those circumstances the country needs high standard leaders. If not, it will become a morally degenerated nation. The rest of the world looks amused how the Bush administration is defeating the US.

Gravatar Another graphic description:

A nine-year-old survivor, Eman Waleed, who lived in a house 150 metres from the roadside bomb attack told Time magazine that after the explosion her father began reading the Qur’an. “First, they went into my father’s room, where he was reading the Qur’an, and we heard shots,” she said. “I couldn’t see their faces very well, only their guns sticking into the doorway. I watched them shoot my grandfather first in the chest and then in the head. Then they killed my granny.”

Gravatar I think the press is seriously fed up. Editor & Publisher ran this just a day or two ago, about the Marines in Haditha and al-Anbar being at the breaking point.

If a journalist could identify the behavior, that would indicate that somebody 'upstairs' knew of the psych problems and either didn't act, or received no support from up the chain... The equivalent of willful negligence or deriliction of duty at much higher levels in the command structure.

...At my site:

Gravatar I guess they "hate us for our freedoms"

Gravatar I bet the Bushistas are thinking, Where is a young, pretty, and mendacious Kuwaiti princess when you need one?

Gravatar A quote about the intrusion of American 'Democracy' and culture in the middle east:

"The Iranian regime is despicable in its lack of respect for basic human rights and in its regimentation of its citizens into a rigid theocracy. But it is no more of a threat to the United States than Burma or the Congo, both of which are just as oppressive. Iran has a very weak military and just isn't a serious threat to any other country. Its values are not US values. But if we are going to do things like send Marines into Iran to force Iranian women to wear bikinis at the beach, we are going to have a very busy century and Arlington Cemetery is going to run out of room. [emphasis mine//leighm]

The warmongers are undeterred."

--Juan Cole, Professor of History, University of Michigan

Gravatar There is no excuse for the killing of children. But think for a moment about the circumstances. A car bomb went off and a Marine was killed.

Why did not the innocent people stop and warn the Marines!

Think about WWII and the the fire bombs and nukes that our country launched at civilian targets!

I don't excuse the Marines, but understand why they did it.

Gravatar To JohnCM,
just think if it was your family being slaughtered by some foreign occupying army that daily shows no regard for you or your country. NO excuse, NO understanding. Lets not try to either justify or rationize this away. Murder is murder!

Gravatar Are these the liberators who were expecting flowers from the cheering crowds? The whole war was a hoax stemming from a self created tragedy
where 3000 Americans were burnt to death by their own country men.

The buck shouldn't stop at the soldiers' level, although they should be fully held responsible for this barbaric murder, it should stop with the Commander-in-Chief and his cohorts who were the prime motivators of this bloody genocide in the first place.

Gravatar What you said, Frog.

It disturbs me to see the way some people are reacting to these atrocities, that anyone who has been reading alternative news for the last three years is well aware of.

I think it's progress that it's coming out in the mainstream news, and am disturbed at the way a phenomenon that is so heartwrenching, painful, and tragic to Iraqis is being talked about with so little sobriety here.

Is trashing America more important than the safety of Iraqis---especially Iraqi children, women, and the elderly, and infirm?

So what if Murtha is a "hypocrite"! Taking legal action against Marines murdering children is a step in the right direction.

I have to wonder what anyone who isn't relieved to see this out in the mainstream is rooting for.

Gravatar To JohnCM--You ask, "Why did not the innocent people stop and warn the Marines!"

Think for a minute---Maybe-just maybe the residents living in the area didn't know a bomb was planted in their area? Or maybe, they were afraid the trigger happy, Gung Ho uniformed Goons would shoot them on sight and ask questions later as is common in Iraq after curfew.

Would you venture out of the 'safety' of your home under such terrifying conditions? I bet not!

Gravatar "Why did not the innocent people stop and warn the Marines!"

Good God man, would you expect a "family" in occupied France to warn the Nazis before a strike by the resistance? That's called collaboration, numbskull.

The'd likely end up dead at the hands of the freedom fighters instead of the marines, though I highly doubt said fighters would buthcher their children and grandparents and those of a few extra houses just for good measure.

The dead marine got exactly what he deserved for not stepping down in a barbaric mission that is ONE ENTIRE WARCRIME.

Since the end of the American empire is undoubtdly nigh, I sincerely hope that every single American soldier not dead by the end of this catastrope is tried for crimes against humanity and brought to justice.

'just following orders'? Bring on the gallows.

Gravatar I should point out, also, that to blame a family that has just been brutally slaughtered by a bunch of neanderthal serial murderers because they didn't collaborate with said murderers is completely beyond the pale, and a disgraceful testament to the fawning admiration many Americans have for these killing machines. i can't think of any other country since the Germans in WWII that placed "their" troops on a such lofty pedestal -- in both cases completey without justification. It's rather like Ted Bundy's fan club. It's disgusting, and that goes for anyone in any country that worships militarism.

Gravatar (It is quite possible there could come
a time in America when civil unrest
on a broad scale occurs. I wonder
what measures against occupiers will
be considered "murderous", and which
will be considered "patriotic".) War and armed aggression involve killing. Some killing is more or less justified than other killing, but killing is a given in time of war.
Stress is high in combat. Stress is
extremely high in a hostile environment where everyone is considered a possible, mortal enemy.
To send soldiers into those environments - regardless of the
righteousness or evil of the cause -
is to send them into situations wherein whatever constitutes "normal"
behavior cannot be reasonably expected. We should not judge these
soldiers based upon any measure of
our comparatively peaceful, bucolic
existence. We especially should not
judge these soldiers too harshly
without hearing THEIR perspective of
events. After all, the very
circumstance of their existence is the only insurance, short of God and
the citizen/soldier, that foreign
soldiers do not occupy our OWN land.

Gravatar The Buck Stops With Bush.

That Mass Murderer should be brought before an International Court for starting a false war based on his lies and attacking Iraq against the decision of the UN.
The UN it appears is a forum for representatives of counries to have a good time.
Why have the US and the UK not been thworn out of the UN for what they have done?
It's time the UN is moved out of NY if they wish to have some semblance of straight forwardness

Gravatar No sin can go unpunished. God is the Greatest. Keep supporting Bush-it.

Gravatar The strength of the pack is in the wolf. the strength of the leader is in the pack!

The whole damned pack and their huffin, puffin, lying leaders are guilty of crimes against humanity, since criminally 9/11 and invading other lands and committing untold horrendous atrocities on the natives!

They all deserve to be hanged by the neck until dead, and their innocent victims compensated royally!

Gravatar What ever goes around comes around.
Do not expect the rest of the world
to come to your aid again.

The Bush family needs to be on the front lines in this invasion. When the leaders of nations are sent to actually fight in these invasions there will be no more.
The only way to stop these nuts is to literally pull them from their lofty positions.

Gravatar So sorry brother Nathan, no such a thing as International court exist. it is just a show down court and the war wasnt based on lies. If so, why the UN is now supporting those against Iran? and not only US & UK, but quit a good number as the willing. You may hate something but is good for U and you may like something but is bad for U. God is all knowing.(Holly Quran)

Gravatar Excuses, excuses, excuses.

So the poor babes were too stressed out? Put down your fucking gun or turn it in the opposite direction. Frag your superior if the only way you can express yourself is through the barrel of a gun. Stop being a Bushbot and defend your coutry from its real enemies.

It's high time americans demand accountability from their troops as well as their superiors. These nutcases are walking time bombs. Nearly every serial killer and mass murderer in the US was either former military or came from a military family -- and you have more of these freaks running around than every other country combined.

It's one thing to have 'em shooting up a MacDonald's or torturing a dozen women, it's quite another to have them set loose on civilians in a foreign country with weapons of mass destruction. If you're lucky, they'll just end up as cops or prison guards in your own country.

It's not surprising in the slightest. The sooner you face up to the fact that the American military is the most depraved bunch of whack job ghouls the world as ever seen, the sooner people will stop enlisting.

look, it's simple. Marines are freaks. Sometimes they start out that way, most of the time they're brainwashed:

"Every response was "kill", every chant we had, whether it was in line for the chow hall or PT was somehow involved with killing. And not simply killing the enemy, we had one just standing in line for chow which was "1, 2, 3, attack the chow hall (repeat) Kill the women, Kill the Children, Kill, Kill, Kill 'em All". Constantly using the term "kill" as though it meant nothing was used to desensitize the recruits to the notion of killing and it's implications.

http://www.counterpunch.org/ whit...te05292004.html

"They called us "Natural Born Killers", after the Oliver Stone flick about two serial killers who exhibited a lust for killing at random. We would sing songs that relished in the possibility of killing and raping noncombatant women and children, watching kids burn alive from napalm, and luring school children to their deaths with candy. We answered every command with the word, "Kill!!" We watched military battle footage in fast forward with Metallica's "For Whom the Bell Tolls" (ironically, an anti-war song) in the background, all the while stomping our feet and screaming with blood lust.

http://www.counterpunch.org/ whit...te07132004.html

"April 1995. My brother had picked me up on base and drove me up to Anaheim to meet up with some high school friends to go to Disneyland. An incident the next morning, to which I reacted with my new-found Marine personality, estranged me from a good friend. I remember speaking in the familiar cuss-filled tongue characteristic to Marines, but it didn't bother me at the time because I felt so self-righteous about my military service that I knew I had the right to cuss if that was what it took to "defend" America and the world. This bothered my friend, who being a civilian wasn't used to that type of crude language on such a scale, so he commented that I cussed more than anyone else he'd ever known, and that it symbolized poor intelligence. He wasn't calling me stupid. He was reminding me how I sounded. I immediately became overwhelmed with the desire to leap across the table and stab my good friend in the eyes, neck, and face repeatedly with my fork. I resisted only because I felt it would be an act "unbecoming a U.S. Marine", and strangely the thought of murdering my long time friend did not seem unsavory.

http://www.counterpunch.org/ whit...te05292004.html

Does the brainwashing excuse their actions? I don't really care, any more than I cared whether Jeffrey Dahmer was legally insane when he started eating people and drilling holes in their heads. I didn't care when he got stabbed in the clink. He had it coming.

I care about Dahmer's victims. DO NOT "support" "your" troops. Until they start acting remotely human they are no more worthy of respect than gorillas or pigs (with apologies to gorillas and pigs).

Gravatar Incidentally, when I said you would be lucky to have these deranged killers just end up as serial killers, cops or prison guards when they return -- I meant it. Americans may soon understand what the term "occupation" really means.
Think Operation GArden Plot and Halliburton with a twist of terra.

Any way you shake it, it doesn't look good. Unless you start acting now and putting yourself on the line your country is doomed.

Gravatar Im not trying to mitigate this criminal immoral and barbaric act , but don't get too stuck on the fact this paticular atrocity was committed by americans, There are a lot of other nasty and brutal killings happenning all over Iraq , the middle east , and the entire world. Its HUMANS that are the problem. What can I say , sometimes I hate being one.But we are pretty much all the same aren't we? This veneer of civility that we enjoy can disappear overnight. Just take away the food , water and electricity for a few days and see what happens.

Gravatar "Its HUMANS that are the problem."

I don't agree. It's humans under particular circumstances that are the problem. This is crucial. The "evil humans" argument gives way to the "need" for a fatherly overclass that "protects" us from ourselves. What's more -- it's false. Study some anthropology. "Cilivilized" societies are infinitely more violent than hunter-gatherers, the vast majority of which are/were peaceful, egalitarian and anti-authoritian. Americans are not uniquely barbaric, but brainwashing techniques and techological advancements in the art of war have improved over the years to the point where Marines can rightly be described as the most efficient (read: insane) killing machines the world has ever seen.

The fact that many of them cannot be re-integrated into society without going bezerk is telling. Violence is worshipped in American society. Combine this with the myth of "rugged individualism", religious fanaticism, dehumanization of the "demonic other", racism, delusions of grandeur, American exceptionalism, a steady diet of "kill kill kill" and you have butchery on a mass scale.

Maybe you're right -- they're no more efficient than the Nazis or fanatical Japanese or the Spaish in the Inca empire. But the show ain't over yet. By the time we're done America may very make look Nazi Germany look like Switzerlad. The fact that "your" troops share so many similarities with the above groups is, at the very least, alarming.

Gravatar This is not an isolated case. These attrocities have been ging on since the wars, yes wars, began in Iraq. From bulldozing alive Iraqi soldiers in their trenches to the razing of Fallujah. These so called soldiers are licenced psychopaths, led by lunatics. They have NO regard for the Iraqi people they simply believe that they should ALL be dead. The next we'll hear is that it was few isolated out of control soldiers that did this. Baloney, these guys are programmed to kill the innocents with impunity. If the US public does nothing about this then they're are as culpable as the rest of the Germans were, to Hitlers regime. American values eh! Well if this is it then God help America!

Gravatar I suspect that Americans - even left-wing Americans - will have little stomach for the Haditha Massacre, just as they generally looked the other way while Falluja was being destroyed using similar tactics on a much larger scale.

The USA today is a religion unto itself, and the President is viewed (albeit unconsciously) as a God-like figure, therefore beyond reproach. US soldiers are similarly beyond reproach, whatever they may do: "Support The Troops!" cry the war-loving hordes.

I urge all US citizens to make a pilgrimage to the war museum in Saigon, Vietnam: you will be deeply shocked and troubled by what you see. US soldiers proudly squatting beside decapitated bodies. Piles of heads, scalped. Pictures you have never seen on your own televisions, nor in your history books. This is the war you said you would never forget, remember?

So we have critics lining up to bash this administration, but all-too-often refusing to even imagine that Bush himself could have been involved in the corruption and lies. Witness Plame-gate. Winess Bush's lies over the NSA wire-tapping.

Bush is a liar, a corrupt stooge and an arrogant son-of-a-bitch. He does not deserve your respect. The troops in Iraq are poor, uneducated kids who have been dumped into a quagmire they barely understand. But if they have committed atrocities - and they have - they do not deserve your support. The USA has lost its moral compass and become a dangerous pariah state. In such a condition, it does not deserve your blind patriotic support.

The system is broken. Fix it!

Gravatar Weep, America! Weep for your sins!

Weep for your lies and your bloody murdering wars and you profound incapacity to stop yourself from endlessly repeating this murdering, pyschotic madness.

Damn you, America. Damn your poison. Damn your inflated self-esteem, which values other lives as so much less than your own. Damn your hypocrisy and your endless greed and your profound, unforgiveable carelessness.

Fuck you, America. Fuck your lazy media which never dares tell you the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. Fuck the scum you call politicians and the corrupt farce you call Democracy. Fuck your millionaires and your billionaires and your corporate giants and the whole fucking system you foist upon this poor, suffering world.

Fuck your dumb masses, who prefer to watch ice hockey or go shopping while you export your nightmares to places they don't even know exist. Fuck the fat, lazy bastards who walk your streets but cannot even be bothered to vote, let alone change the system that makes their votes irrelevant. Fuck the superficial consumer culture you so aggressively export and the bottom-line profits you so zealously covet.

Fuck what you have done to my country and my world.

Fuck the dumb-ass fool you call a President and fuck every miserable, self-deceiving ignoramus who ever voted for him.

Fuck the lot of you, if you cannot MAKE THIS STOP!

Fuck my country, Australia, too of course. Fuck all the bastards and bitches who voted for Howard and his ass-kissing war policies. Fuck me for not being able to stop that, and fuck my little blog for being so damned ineffective.

People are being killed in cold blood because WE ARE LETTING IT HAPPEN.

All the words mean nothing if we cannot make it stop.

I am sick to death of all this death, and NOTHING REAL is being done about it. All we have is words, an endless stream of words... from bloggers, from the media, from politicians... and yet nothing REAL is being done to stop the carnage and the torture and the wire-tapping and the cronyism and all the rest.

It's time we stirred up the pot and got some changes happening, coz things can't go on the way they are.

These fuckheads killed innocent civilians in cold blood. Their behaviour is inexcusable. However, their actions must be seen in a larger context if we are to ensure this sort of massacre does not continue to occur again and again (as is happening now).

Many of these soldiers in Iraq are just kids. They come from impoverished and uneducated backgrounds, many joined up for the benefits, the pay or the education. Many just wanted to get away from wherever they were. And many never expected, or wanted, to serve abroad as armed combatants. (Others, of course, were just the usual psychotic nut-jobs who join armies all round the world.)

Most of these kids had no idea what was going on in Washington and London leading up to the invasion. They still don't. Zogby did a poll of the military in Iraq a while back which showed that 85 per cent of troops said the US mission was mainly “to retaliate for Saddam’s role in the 9/11 attacks”. Another 42% said they were not really sure what their mission in Iraq was. That's disgraceful. Now consider that many of those same kids have had their return from Iraq delayed time and time again. Many signed up for a certain length of time but have not been allowed to leave. Others thought their sevice was complete, but they were dragged back in.

They get dressed up in all kinds of gear, day after day, and go out to sweat in the hot desert sun, day after day after day. The Iraqi people are openly hostile to them. Kids throw rocks at them. People they cannot even see try to kill them with IEDs. Crowds dance on the burning corpses of their comrades when the IEDs go off.

Under these circumstances, it is HIGHLY PROBABLE that a few screws are gonna pop. More than a few, in fact. Just look at what that kind of pressure did to the kids in Vietnam. If you put kids like that under that kind of prolongued pressure - based on past experience - you simply have to EXPECT a few atrocities. Expecially when you have pro-torture psychos like Cheney and Rumsfeld calling the tune.

The soldiers who committed these atrocities in Haditha are murderers. But their aides and accomplices are in the White House.

We need some accountability. We demand some accountability!

Make. This. Stop.

Gravatar We are finally beginning to wake up to the fact that this country is being led by a bunch of criminals of the Worst degree...Meaning...they have Secretly, ( and in Absolute, unhurried safety ) gone about their Business of planning how to annihilate everyone and everything that could possibly stand in the Way of their Plans for Complete World Domination. Every step of the way, the Steps have been insidiously Schemed and put forth in such a fashion that it would become a Fact long before it was even ' made' Known, or 'Became' Known. Look at what happens to...Anyone who attempts to 'blow their cover' in even the tiniest fraction of the Truth to what is going on Right under our collective, Blind Eyes that refuse to see ! We keep referring to...'What are 'You' or 'We' going to do to stop this attack on our nation, and the insidious chipping away of our freedoms; our innate right to live in Peace ? IT is a Right that has been bought and paid for...many times over..by the blood, sweat and tears of every Generation of this Country. It is something that is never going to be Paid for, forever. Certainly Not as long as there are mad men such as we have seated in our Government offices now who are busily pulling strings for Themselves.. (that Wipes out generations of Our young men and women that they have thrown into a preemptive war they have created to benefit Their Own voracious Bottom lines ( because they are full of greed for Power and Wealth above the worth of everyone and everything else under the Sun. ) Just Who ARE 'WE ?' Are we not the Peoples of this United States of America ? Are We not guilty of assisting this Corrupt bunch of War-mongers who are busy pulling our Strings [ as though we were a bunch of helpless, mindless Morons ] by doing nothing but Playing the 'Wait and See Game...while our Blood is being shed wherever that Godless Bunch decides where and when it should be Dispensed for Them ? Military Men and Women...what happened to your Right to becoming a ' Conscientious Objector ' when given an order that goes against every ounce of what You know is Wrong and sinful ? Is it to be more admired of you when you march to the beat of Bad Drums ? Isn`t it more courageous of you to stand up for what is good and right, than it is...to die doing what you know is Wrong ? Isn``t it better, that if you are told to fight, and to possibly die...that it is one thousand times more noble to die doing what your Conscience tells you is the Right Thing to do ? I do Still believe that Good does triumph over evil. But a Stand has to be taken before that can be put into effect, don`t you agree ? I have been around this old world enough years that I know Evil when I see, smell...or am being run over by it. So, start Thinking for yourself... A war cannot be 'administered unto any nation...without Human beings willing to be sacrificed. And for what Just Cause is This present, 'Preemptive war'against Iraq being carried forth ? To Bring Democracy to the Iraqi Peoples ( dispensed from the firing end of a Weapon Yet ? ) And all the while, losing Democracy here at Home ? To make the world a safer place ? For Whom ? The Iraqi People ? Plueeese ! The Only thing We can do for them is to Go away OUT of their Country and Leave them in Peace. Not Leave them and their Country Mangled and torn Apart. I have no idea that You who should be giving these well-thought- out words strong consideration...will ever see them, ( much less read and contemplate seriously what I am saying to you. This Country Must wake up from its` stupor and mobilize against All that is so Hideous and Wrong here. It must begin with our Young men and women in our Military Services who are being led to their slaughter by Evil old Men. VedaGF

Gravatar America's' shameless murderous legacy of wholesale massacres and genocide established in Vietnam in the 1970's seem to have returned to haunt the people of Iraq and Afghanistan.

Is it any wonder the daily detonation of IED's continue to take American lives on a daily basis?

Too bad that the IED's cannot be planted at 1600 Pensylvania Street where the low life NeoCon REICH WINGER "Warmogers" have tea and crumpits as they discuss their 'ol "draft dodging" days.

TheAZCowBoy
Tombstone, AZ.

Gravatar BTW. This massacre occurred in the wake of Falluja, at about the same time the blogging world was earnestly discussing whether or not White Phosphorous was really a deadly weapon. You can be damn sure that "higher ups" like Rumsfeld were involved in the cover-up!

Gravatar This may be the worst and most blatant example of this type of behavior in Iraq but it ceratinly is not the first or only example of it there. Untold numbers of Iraqis have been killed by indescriminate and wanton use of force by U.S. troops at checkpoints and at the sites of IED explosions. Intrusions and raids without warning or proper Iraqi interpreters have also resulted in unnecessary deaths. This is all U.S. policy and why Bush would not sign on to the ICC.

Gravatar Poor Iraqis, being slaughtered in cold blood by the USA murderers. These killers must be stopped. Killing, bombing, lying, corrupting, spreading destruction and causing misery wherever they go.

One of the most despised and hated countries, the USA.

Gravatar ICC has no power over the USA killers.
They can kill and kill and kill.

Gravatar u.s. soldiers and americans in general think they are better than Arabs and Iraqis, that's what the problem is. Bush is the biggest racist there is. He would have fit right in during the slave owner days in the u.s. In Iraq the u.s. soldiers like to kill Iraqis so they can go back to the u.s. and brag to there friends about how they killed an Arab.

It's time those boys from the u.s. got a good taste of there own medicine. Soon I hope.

Gravatar What amerikans must accept, if the aftermath of Vietnam is anything to go by, these braindead marines, thugs and killers will be "going postal" or "going macdonalds" for years to come where you yourself or your children and grandchildren will reap the bitter harvest of all the "Pinkvilles" of Vietnam and now all the Hadithas of Iraq.

The global slaughter of Bush's terror wars will have Reagan's "trickle down" effect on your lives as the blood of the innocent stains your history for generations to come.

How come amerikans can no better see Satan in Bush and his putsch junta than Germans could see the devil under Hitler's moustache?

Weird how Goebels style nationalism in a militarist society can make even the most "intelligent" citizens deaf dumb and blind.

Gravatar I have realized that the only way to wake us americans up to what is going on over there is to make it all of our problem. WE NEED A DRAFT!!! that is the best thing that could happen for the anti war movement. Without the reality of war reaching out and touching everyone of us we will never have a reason to care. Right now I am sitting in an air conditioned apartment eating whatever I please, watching 500 channels of cable, downlaoding all of the porno I can get my hands on, and will go to work tommorow and earn more in a day than most people in other "non-indutrialized" countries earn in a week for making pizzas so that more americans can stuff their face while doing the same things I am doing. Do u think some fucking pictures will snap anyone out of this cozy existence? You're mistaken myfriend. What do you think made all of the country wake up to vietnam. It wasn't their moral conviction! it was two things: there was no meaningful attack on american CIVILIANS(so there was the bay of tolin but u can compare that to the uss cole, notice after the cole americans weren't willing to support regime change)and there was a draft that made most everyday americans directly involved in the solution (war) for which there was never a meaningful problem(bay of tolkin). Now our problem was sept. 11th and it was meaningful enough to create support for two major wars, but that problem can only generate so much support for death and carnage. So the time is ripe for a vietnam like backlash but one key ingredient is missing-the draft. We need it! If you don't support the war you should support the draft!

Gravatar These so called US marines a.k.a Bastards in all other parts of the world... will be pulled back and in the name of prosecution... or say court martial... will be given 1 month of rest in a good comfortable prison and will be released to have more fun...

Gravatar Welcome. the liberators!

Gravatar It is about time everyone, everywhere, starts talking as often as possible about the coming execution of bush and his cohorts. The more we all talk about it the more acceptable the idea will become. It seems that americans in particular hold their president in some reverence, but this idea has to be broken so the deed can be accomplished as soon as possible. There is no way he should be allowed to escape for his massive crimes. If he is given the chop maybe americans will start to act more humanely

Gravatar for those that said it was read in the mainstream news i think they r trying to cover up their position on the war by publishingthis article. they r trying to make themselves innocent, while all thewhile they r guilty. they r trying to make themsleves look like they r on the peoples side, they allowed the reporters to publish it. lets see if the publications keep coming before we dare say that they r truely on the side of the ppl. there is no way this was something that was because they were appauled by this act because it has been going on for years. they have been covering up for way to long to really b trusted.

Gravatar i have been to a few sites, and all i read are those americans that think this war is very good. that the iraqies r evil doers. and they hate us for our freedoms. what freedoms are they talking about? the media isnt free anymore the ones that are broadcast to the homes. the lies that we are under attack? what attack? the attack was by a group of people not nations. and where r the people looking for Osama? i cant figure out what canada is doing in afghanistan. they shouldnt be there. this isnt our war!! but yet our stoopid govt is pro america, they would sell us out in a heart beat. not many people trust this new govt anymore. they have become americanized. looks like we dont broadcast our dead anymore now thanks to the new rules. even the media has shunned this new govt in a protest during one of their news conferences. kinda funny how he stomped off the stage pointing his fingers at everyone else claiming that the liberals wouldnt have got treated this way. but then again the liberals wouldnt have dishonored their nation. unlike the liberals "they faught against the americans verbally", this guy is bending over to take it in the arse. he would make excuses for the americans because he is part of them. as a canadian i am proud of my country but we do not belong in afghanistan. when our liberals said we wouldnt go to iraq, pretty much the entire country was proud at that moment. they defied the terrorist scheme of america by denying them our blood as well. all i can say is that when ww3 breaks out i'm pretty sure america will be the cause of it,and we will have no no one else to blame but them for it. for they r still creating messes in other parts of the world as we type about iraq.

lets pray that americans will take this govt down along with its string pullers before its to late. i said once to someone that americans shouldt be allowed to vote but let the entire world vote for their govt. for their govt is always in everyone elses faces. so we should all be voting in their govt to make sure that they do not have to wrry about anymore illegal wars. and if needed to be aken out by those that truely care about life all over the world.

Gravatar its a form of arrognat racism that enables these so called 'men' to be able to do this sensless killing in a foreign land... i feel for all of them but I am astute enough to know that not much will be done,

how much more do we have to be witness to while we watch no one held accountable?

its sick, its depraved, imoral and insane and yet ....it continues, once it was the insanity and obsentiy of vietnam and all its repercussions and conseqences, now it is Iraq, the America arrogance strikes again, theirs is a war economoy GET IT
it thrives on WAR they get RICH off it
well...those at the top do..look at all the millionar congressmen...

america is a war econmy it needs wars

if only the rest of the world had balls and guts enough to stand up to it and place sanctions on it...but no they keep quiet, they are diplomatic, which is really a front for being nice rather than honest...

imagine the trauma of being witness to this, seeing your family massacured, a child...babies grandmothers, people who could be you or me, or our families, murdered - their lives had potential and value equal to an american life

Gravatar Everywhere you look in the past the black hand of US atrocities have been visited on innocents. Korea! Now it's been finally laid bare the agreement that all refugees coming from the north should killed. Killed yes, not captured, not turned back, simply killed. Did they? You bet they did! Source the then US ambassador!

There is not a country on this earth that hasn't had some US involvement. Why, they're now even into Russian space! They just do not know when to stop. But they will get it in the end. The economy will gradually implode, the really big boys will be coming from Asia. So let's see how those brave pilots and marines who, are so used to bumping people off the defenseless, will deal with that. Ah nukes, but then China has plenty of those and wouldn't hesitate to use em. There's some fat lessons to be learned by this scum and I want to live to see the day, when they finally get to taste them!

Gravatar still here wrote:

"Study some anthropology. "Cilivilized" societies are infinitely more violent than hunter-gatherers, the vast majority of which are/were peaceful, egalitarian and anti-authoritian."

Actually, I have studied a great deal of anthropology, and there is no evidence whatsoever that "Civilized" societies are even incrementally more violent than hunter-gatherers, let alone "infinitely" more so.

"Modern foragers, who offer a glimpse of life in prehistoric societies, were once thought to engage only in ceremonial battles that were called to a halt as soon as the first man fell. Now they are known to kill one another at rates that dwarf the casulalties from our world wars. The archaeological record is no happier. Buried in the ground and hidden in caves lie silent witnesses to a bloody prehistory stretching back hundreds of thousands of years. They include skeletons with scalping marks, ax-shaped dents, and arrowheads embedded in them; weapons like tomahawks and maces that are useless for hunting but specialized for homicide; fortification defenses such as palisades of sharpened sticks; and paintings from several continents showing men firing arrows, spears, or boomerangs at one another and being felled by these weapons." 'The Blank Slate' Stephen Pinker p. 306

Not only were/are such societies not without violence, they were/are also not egalitarian, they were/are reciprocity based. Something was/is expected in return for everything. 'Favors' were/are remembered, and a running ledger sheet was/is kept of such 'social bank accounts', with those who refused/refuse to play by the rules eventually being isolated and shunned. The evidence for all this is overwhelming.

And as far as anti-authoritarianism goes, we are completely ignorant of what Stone Age peoples believed. Modern Hunter-Gatherers are far from anti-authoritarian, however. They have strong belief systems with rigidly enforced taboos and other mechanisms for enforcing social conformity. This is clearly indicated in the literature.

Furthermore, it is clear that both prehistoric and modern Hunter/Gatherer societies were and are arranged according to social hierarchies, with certain living members being given higher status while alive and differing burial materials placed in graves denoting differences in social status even among the dead, so that their status will be continued even in the next world.

It is not necessary to create some idealized utopian past for the human race in order to fight injustice. Our nature predisposes us to violence and war, but our mind has reached the capacity to question whether such behaviors are logical.

Romantic ideas about the human past are artifacts of Jean Jacques Rousseau and his philosophy. Rousseau was wrong about everything, because he produced it all in his mind, without any evidence, and the sooner people discard his ideas and embrace modern anthropology and cognitive neuroscience as tools for self-analysis, the sooner we can get on with really solving our problems, instead of further muddying the waters.

Gravatar A long time ago, a very great American admonished "Beware of foreign entanglements". Since then,
three presidents have been assassinated for daring to disentangle the USA from fiat currencies and foreign banking interests. By many unseen hands,
we [Americans] have been drawn into
conflicts not entirely of our own making.

By reason of our prosperity and industry, the rest of the world has coveted the opportunity to do business with the USA. All that came
with a price, and risks well-known
unto the players of the games. On
all sides....

One of the essentials in all potentially hostile commerce is a
good security guard system. A
"protection team" to ensure that
the competition doesn't get out-of-
hand, so to speak.. One of [our]
teams is the U.S. Marine Corps.

When the "executives" make a mess,
they send in a team to clean it up.
When [our] interests are threatened,
a team is sent in to put down the
threat. The U.S. Marine is the best
in the business. We can sleep in
relative peace because, somewhere in
the world, a Marine is on duty watching out for our fat, lazy asses.

Point the finger at the man in the mirror when you want to lay blame.
Get off your lazy asses and look at
your history. Start with a motion
to repeal the seventeenth amendment to the U.S. Constitution, and restore that power to the various
state legislatures so that foreign
and corporate interests cannot as easily buy our Senate. We, The People, are the shareholders in this enterprise, and if we do not exercise our options, WE are the ones guilty of the atrocities our
envoys commit around the globe.
Rule of Law is at issue, here. Without it, the Marines are no more than a manifestation of our own
chaos and savagery.

As for the Marine Corps, I am sorry
they have been manipulated into such
an untenable position as the work
of occupying a foreign country for
the profits of an evil, shadow government. But when I have to stand, at arms, to defend my country
and my own, I hope there will be a
United States Marine somewhere to watch my back!

Gravatar The u.s. would never tangle with China. In spite of the brave stories the u.s. Govt. tells us in the news about what all they said to China. China says a few things back to. A few short months ago China told the u.s. Govt. if push comes to shove, you better be prepared to lost a hundred of your citys if you try nukes on us. China said we are prepared to lose half our country, you better be prepared to lose more than that.

The u.s. will never attack anyone capable of fighting back. That'a not ole yellers style.

Gravatar The recent press meet Bush and Blair had, was as phoney as they come. They had plants in the audience, it was obvious, to interrupt the questions bush and blair did not want to answer. What a whiney little lying cs that Tony Blair is. A lier to the end.

Gravatar Some are surprised at the outcome of the killing of innocent people but when you put weapons in the hands of young men who are trained to kill as a means of resolving conflict, humanity becomes a fairytale story. sad to say but this is just the begining of sorrows. Will the real terrorist please stand up!

Gravatar u1 says:
"if only the rest of the world had balls and guts enough to stand up to it and place sanctions on it...but no they keep quiet, they are diplomatic, which is really a front for being nice rather than honest..."

They are about as "nice" as the jackals that wolf down the torn up cadaver for scraps left after the alpha animal has gorged its fill.
They don't even have the morality to stop the slow burn ongoing genocide of Palestine by the Zionazi parasite Izrael, which has put "the Palestinians on a diet" as the pariah nation so eloquently put it. Imagine if somebody recommended putting Jews on a forced "diet", turned off their electricity, demolished their schools hospitals and homes? Imagine an amerika enforcing this Warsaw ghetto politics from Palestine to Iraq to Iran "god" willing, as the neocon Machiavellian primitives are untiringly pimping for, paid for by your tax dollar and the blood of your working class of course.

Seeing how the great western "democracies" obviously condone all this how could they dare stand up to pea-brained leviathan amerika as it enforces its supremacist Izraeli policy on Iraq?

It is disgusting to see western governments outside amerika collude with the Bush regime. Whether it is fawning pimping pouting little Tony Blair (wasting away from the inside by the day) or the rest of the craven Euro Union. They have lashed themselves to the Nazi juggernaut in the glorious tradition of war criminals whose only concern is to be on the "winning" side. Big mistake!

Gravatar nothing will happen to them. I don!t remember the guy's name but it must be Dilawer or something like that.
This guy was beaten to death by american soldiers in a prison in afghanistan.
The murderers did not get more than
2 or 3 months. we know there were people got killed in abu ghraib but none of the american soldiers got more than 8 years. It is a policiy of american government, they don't want to discourage their soldiers.
I don't think people will give to much fuck to women rights, democracy
freedom in İraq while families are getting killed this way .This is the exact situation where AL-qaide gets
stronger and starts to make sense for those people. The situation in iraq can't go this way america sould be stopped. The important thing is who will stop USA. Al-qaide or the civilized world. If aI-qaide does and I am sure it will the world will have another problem both the islamic world and the rest.

Gravatar The USA has long since lost the war in Iraq.

In fact the United states has not won a war since the 19th century.

To their credit they did help in WWII, especially in the pacific -
but Russia and Britain defeated the Germans.

Bush is the stupid mans [and womans] president and that he has any suport at all is incontrovertable proof that their are a hell of a lot of stupid Americans.

Please do attack Iran, and see what happens. Maybe the ocean of American blood that ensues will snap the US out of it's apathy.

Gravatar typo - theirthere

Gravatar I hold Bush and his cohorts totally responsible. They are the ones who should be tried and punished for this and other crimes of this war, which should never have occured in the first place. It is theit war totally of their making.

Gravatar IT just makes me so sick!!!!! How come your country never picks on any-one who can fight back????I have heard that Chinas not afraid. Your Country cant even write history with ANY honesty. And all you do is sit in your houses that you worked soooooo hard to buy even though you know deeeeeeeep in your hearts the land your house is on was stolen and the people move to make room for your ha ha ha civiliesation. Until you addmit your wrongs and really make efforts to help the rest of the world your cuntry is LOST.
And more marine murders will take place SAY THIS OVER AND OVER UNTIL IT TAKES ROOT. I ________ A citizen of The U.S.A. AM NOT SUPERIOR TO ANY-ONE ELSE IN THIS WORLD I WILL MAKE AMENDS TO THE MANY AND MANY WE HAVE STOLEN FROM AND MURDERED.
This is why I beleive this stupid marines did this

Gravatar soldiers are taught to hate their "enemy" so in their mind they can justify murdering civilians as they are part of that "enemy". As long as countries are able to recruit people into their armies then we will continue to have war. You cannot have a war unless people are willing to fight.

Gravatar I am a citizen of the United States, born here with no other choice as well as you and your country. I beleive these marines did this horrible deed but do not assume that ALL Americans are stupid and would do such cowardice acts. I have been fighting Bush and the war for sometime and do not agree with what our government is doing. It's a little harder than you think for us to over throw our government but one thing is for sure, I have worked very hard for my home and family and am not scarred to take on anyone, most of all you!!!!

Gravatar I can't believe such a hate ...
Can't you stop it?.I admire American people, because they're selfcritic about their government. But if you can't do anything, what is it for?
What's enemy for American people?

Gravatar 9/11 was quite a concidence. u.s. wanted to attack and occupy Iraq for years. 9/11 the perfect excuse. The reason Bush and his gang would not allow the inspections to continue, they knew no WMD existed in Iraq and if the inspections finished and nothing was found, they would lose there excuse to attack.
But I still think 9/11 was an inside job.

Gravatar It is sick the way some countrys joined in with the bush gang and attacked Iraq. Theres nothing wrong with the u.s. and England that a few good Chinese or Russian nukes wont cure. Little taste of there own medicine.

Gravatar Serves those damn ragheads right for not throwing those roses at the feet of their liberators. Next time we'll kill them all!!!!

Gravatar I have been silently watching and listening to the suffering of my people.

The prophet Yeshua fortold of the nation of Isreal,s jealousy of my children .

My children have accepted the words of my Allah's prophets and led an obediant governance over the laws of The Holy Spirit.

Daughters of Allah have been desecrated. Sons of Abraham have been led captive. Those who lead my children captive will be led captive by the hand of Elijah.

Elijah has prepared a sacrifice to Allah . Allah will accept this sacrifice accompanied by the prayers of those who have been led captive.

My heart bleeds for those who suffer and have died with the name of Allah on their lips.

My poor terrified ,and tortured children have offered up a constant stream of beautiful prayers .

The prayers of the faithful are a beatiful fragrance to Allah .

All of the Martyrs and saints have assembled to witness the sacrifice of Elijah. Water has been poured upon the sacrifice as a measure of faith in Allah's acceptance of the love of his children.

Massacred women and children and sons of Abraham join with the prophets in prayer ,offered for those who have subjected my children to cruelty,in hope that they will be forgiven by merciful Allah for their cruelty to his precious and loved children.

Please forgive them Father and lead them to repentence and healing as there is none to deliver them ,save the Holy Christ of God.

Let the prayer ,the single prayer of Elijah be heard ,most merciful Allah and deliver the souls of your children to you by your forgiveness .

Most merciful Allah ,deliver the children of Isreal from their Jealousy,Give the leaders of this world the patience and faith to act in love towards your children.

The sacrifice of our brother Elijah awaits your consuming fire ,most merciful Allah. Allah be praised!

Gravatar Thanks for the real-ness, Dan. Anthropoligists and archeologists wanted so badly to see that our current state it the exception and not the rule.

Then the socio-biogical dumb-as-a-shoe arguments began.

Even primates murder.

Bad monkeys.

If you can find a way to cut the gordian knot of this American Exceptionalism...I'm almost beginning to look forward to the world in the warm embrace of the Chinese bosom, as the Chinese hurl toward the goal of catching up with the Industrial Revolution.

Many people will enjoy kicking and spitting on America, and have gotten an early start. But who will really learn anything from this example America has made?

Is China or Russia a stranger to racism?

Is China or Russia a stranger to environmental damage?

Is China or Russia a stranger to massacres?

Is China or Russia a stranger to suppressing opposition?

Once America hits the ground, it will be time for the rest of Europe to "wake up". You've forgotten your own sordid history.

There will be a honeymoon. And then it will become apparent that human nature and the effects of power are same as they ever were.

Gravatar A. Lincoln i recall?

Better the test of character, not how they handle adversity, but rather how they handle power.

Qualification;

Since most never have the opportunity to handle power on a large scale, look and see how they treat their animals. their children, their husbands and wives, and their subordinates.

Watch the pennies and the dollars will follow.

Gravatar These troops are not men, they are adolescent personality disorders.

This sort of thing has happened hundreds of times in iraq over the last few years.

USMC troops are not trained, they can't fight, they can't dance - all they can do is point their rifle at an innocent person, kill them, and giggle.

Get outta here.

Go suck on a donut America.

Gravatar As a US soldier who has spent two years in Iraq....I can not excuse what those Marines have done. I do want everyone to relize the majority of us are doing well in Iraq. With CMO projects, building new schools, water pumps and electric plants daily.
Do I agree with Bush, no..Do I have a job to do..yes. We are not a bunch of children running around, although it is scary there, you do not know who is the enemy and sometimes there are mistakes. Why doesn't anyone blame insurgents who use families as human shields. I have seen them do this with my own eyes. Or the insurgents who blew up an entire primary school full of little children in Al-Iskandriah. I had to pick up there body parts, not the insurgents or you. Say what u want about Bush, do not question us soldiers. It is hard to lose your friends to a faceless enemy and to "protect" the population who does not even care enough to stop a bomber from blowing up schools and mosques. Are we at fault..Yes but are the insurgents at fault..HELL YEA...
e-mail me with comments or questions.
By the way, any threats towards me will result in action..I am a good hacker too. Any questions are more then welcome. Good Luck everyone.

Gravatar John [Quoted] "By the way, any threats towards me will result in action..I am a good hacker too.."

Of course you are 'John'

(personally I doubt that you could hack into a pizza with a chainsaw)

"..building new schools, water pumps and electric plants daily"

No schools or hospitals have been rebuilt

A few schools in northern Iraq have been refurbished, that's about it. A few months ago I offered a $1,000 [A genuine offer made very public - the money ready to deliver via paypal to the winner] to anyone who could provide me with a verifiable photograph of an American-rebuilt school or hospital in Iraq. No real photos were forthcoming..and no surprise there.

Now I am going to ask the ICH webmaster whether your IP is American or shows you to be in Iraq.

If as I suspect, you are a pretender, - you're finished here.

Gravatar The Bush administration has produced many news items, known as Video News Releases (VNRs), about success in Iraq and fed them to the American public through television stations as independent news reports, The Independent reported on Monday, May 29.

"They have got very good at mimicking what a real, independently produced television report would look like," said Diana Farsetta, a researcher at the Center for Media and Democracy.

"I would say it's pretty extraordinary. The picture we found was much worse than we expected going into the investigation in terms of just how widely these (VNRs) get played and how frequently these pre-packaged segments are put on the air."

A report by the non-profit group found that over a 10-month period at least 77 television stations were making use of VNRs without telling viewers who had produced them.

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is already investigating the charges.

The FCC had last print warned broadcasters that they were obliged to inform viewers if items were sponsored.

The maximum fine for each violation is $32,500.

Masquerading

Among fake items provided by the administration to news stations was one in which an Iraqi-American in Kansas City was seen saying "Thank you Bush. Thank you USA" in response to the 2003 fall of Baghdad.

The footage was actually produced by the State Department, one of 20 federal agencies that have produced and distributed such items.

"The public obviously expects their news reports are going to be based on real reporting and real information," said FCC spokesman Craig Aaron.

"If they are watching an advertisement for a company or a government policy, they need to be told."

Last year the administration came under fire after revelation that articles have been written in English, translated into Arabic, by US military "information operation" troops and then given to Baghdad newspapers to print in return for money.

A defense contractor and a Washington-based public relations firm called Lincoln Group helped translate the stories and used staff or subcontractors posing as freelance journalists or advertising executives to bring them to Iraqi media outlets.

The USA Today also revealed late last year that that a $300 million Pentagon psychological warfare operation includes plans to place pro-American messages in foreign media outlets without disclosing the US government as the source.

Gravatar Yep..Im sure the Iraqis are very gratefull, the u.s. invaded there country on bs lies. Killed countless innocient civilians, stole god knows how much Iraq money and oil. Also. it is very doubtfull if the u.s. have any plans to leave Iraq. They are building the worlds largest embassy in the green zone..Embassy..in this case a fancy name for..permanent base..

I have yet to see a news reporter come right out and ask Bush and buck toothed Rice ..Do you have plans for a permanent base in Iraq?? Guess the media are not allowed to ask that on t.v. to Bush and Rice.

Of course Rice just repeats what massa Bush tells her to. Same as with Colin Powell, they are sooooo happy not to be slaves anymore, they really suck up to the system.

Gravatar To "Soldier" John:

Your very presence in the American army makes you a war criminal. Your "service" in Iraq makes you a de facto war criminal. And your bullshit excuses and false claims about building schools and the like are exactly that. Bullshit.
You and your ilk have not done one good thing in Iraq and it is not possible that you will do so in the future. Your invasion and oppression of a defenseless people is more than enough justify the Iraqi resistance when they plant IEDs and launch sniping attacks against you and your whingy buddies. If a massive, racist and amphetamine-fueled army invaded your hometown you would pick up your deer rifle and shoot back and no one would attempt to demonise you, save for the invaders. So when you whine and cry about not being able to identify your "enemy," it cuts little fucking ice with the rest of the world who, rightly, view you as a vile piece of imperialist bollocks. Don't try to pass off your justifications for war here or anywhere else. You may oppose Bush, and it's only the right thing to do, but your military "service" makes you fair game for criticism.

Gravatar A lot of the u.s. soldiers in Iraq are volunteers. Most didn't even know where Iraq was or what the war was about. A lot worked at burger king and mcdonalds. A lot were very uneducated kids, they volunteered to get a job and a pay check and a chance for a free education. haha, the american people and there government trys to build them up as such great soldiers, pimple face kids is what they are playing hero. They go to Iraq and come back saying..omg i seen a dead body. i need therapy now. How the hell do they think those poor Iraq people feel? They live with the u.s. bull s--t on a daily basis. It would be very interesting to see the u.s. soldiers control Iraq alone. Notice..they don't invade Iran, because Iran have a bigger population than Iraq and Afghan combined and it is not easy to divide the Iranians as they try to do in Iraq. Yep..the u.s. sure picks and chooses with great care who they attack..Heavens forbid they might get a bloody nose in return.

Gravatar John the Hacker is a government plant to try and change the minds of the growing unrest with sympathy for the US soldiers and hatred towards are so called "enemy"

John Hacking is illegal! Something your government taught you? Someone pisses you off and you get back at them? Thats exemplary! What a proud, fine soldier you are!

Gravatar Wow. There sure are a lot of high horses in the world. I'm amazed how easy it can be for people from all over the world to point their morally superior fingers at us all the time. I didn't hear anyone complaning when we were the only thing standing in between them and Soviet domination. I'm against the war in Iraq because I believe it's bad policy and unwinable; not because I have any kind of moral outrage over the whole thing. How many of you come from former empires yourselves? Save it. You are all complicit in the struggle for domination that all men and all nations have participated in since the beginning of time. If you don't like the way the US operates, I suggest you move there and change it instead of sitting in your ivory towers and bitching over the internet that WE created in the first place. It should be easy for you to get to the US, since the American Navy is soley responsible for protecting shipping across the globe and all. We still have nuclear supremacy - we will for along time to come so I suggest you get used to the idea of us being around. Yes, we make mistakes - the 25% of the population that actually voted for GW made a huge mistake. Still, who would you rather have in charge? Islamic republics? Trust me, they're trying just as hard as we are to control the world; they're just not very good at it. At least with the US you get bikinis, indoor plumbing, and kick rock bands instead of goats and birkhas. My point is this - the current administration is a bunch of oil cronies and morons, and there are a lot things about America that suck, but it could be worse. I'm fed up with people (particularly Western Europeans) who know nothing about the US except for what they see and hear on the TV constantly passing judgement on us without even thinking about it. You live under our protection whether you like it or not, so at least take some time to put everything in perspective before you start spewing off.

LOL
I needed the comic relief - thanks

- that's pretty funny

moving right along..

I lived in the USA for two years and have been there a dozen times, it's a lemon - decadent and corrupt to the bone. It's a total dog.

Admittedly I liked one thing in the U.S - the girls in California.

(Your sluts are truly world class)

Gravatar I am a 21 year old American female (from California, though not a slut).

I know that the rest of the world likes to believe that we can all be judged by New York and L.A.

If any more of you would like to visit the U.S. I recommend Sacramento, California. It is a nice, normal city that rests 6 hours from shallow-ghetto-hellville (L.A.).

I would like to ask that you consider your own history before you judge us. Historically, the dominant empire of a given age has been involved in brutal wars. I am sure the the crimes committed during these wars were even worse than those being committed today (shall we go for another Spanish Inquisition? anyone? I didn't think so).

The only difference is that there was no global information system. America is simply younger than most other nations and is still suffering from growing pangs.

I only wish that we Americans had some way to go back in time and stop ourselves from saving the rest of the world's collective ass during the World Wars. If we had been able to resist putting a stop to the genocide that was being performed we could have taken that extra time to mature.

Who knows?

We may have matured to the point of complete non-violence like the wonderful French (oh wait, they had a little thing called the French Revolution).

Spain, no there's a country to model ourselves after... oops, they had the inquisition (not to mention the attempted genocide of the native population of the Americas).

Well, maybe we could have been like Russia (no, still not a good role-model).

Um... China? No, they were in wars for centuries.

Germany? No
Italy? No
Egypt? No
ANY Eastern Europe Countries? No, attempted genocide in most of those as well...

Oh, I know...England. Now, I don't mean to say anything bad about our allies; but, they did sort of involve themselves in wars for centuries (including the destruction and total domination of the Scottish and Irish people).

O.K. guys, I guess we're out of alternative guides. I suppose we will just have to figure our own way around the playground and teach ourselves how to deal with the bullies as they come.

Oh, and you should all know. What happened on September the 11th will always be remembered. Those who believe that the American government caused the events to happen are clearly paranoid.

Documents can be easily forged to aid in the mass hallucination that the world is a peaceful place (except for the oil hungry powers that be).

It isn't, the world is vicious (with the possible exception of India).

I do not support our dependence on oil. Nor do I feel that the war on Iraq was justified.

However, I do believe that the arrest and trial of Saddam and the eventual execution of Osama bin Laden are just. Personally, I would like Osama to just "disappear" into a sand dune where his body would be found many decades after some soldier "accidentally" shot him five or six times in the head.

Most of you have been attacking America on the grounds that we are killing civilians. You seem to have lost sight of the fact that the terrorist attacks on 9/11 were not performed on a military base. Those were civilians too.

If you don't know this, New York isn't exactly a fortress. In the movies, it is made to appear tough. But, in the movies, all Japanese women are Geisha and all Germans are still Nazi's and all English people are in line to the throne.

New York was not prepared for an attack of such magnitude. The victims of that attack were innocent of the crimes they were executed for.

Alright, I think I have said enough for now.

Gravatar California girls are the best in the world.

It's capital Sacromento has a history of police corruption, beatings in custody and zero-tolerance of public protests. It is hardly pleasantville central.

I know your country, - there are worse places for sure, but there are better places too, much better places with a much higher quality of life and freedoms that American nationals can only dream of.

Don't be offeneded by my use fo the word 'slut'

It's correct definition is:
slut n. A person, especially a woman, considered sexually promiscuous

Your sluts are way better than ours.

Gravatar what a joke. if anyone, anyone, from that village shot a round at a marine then the whole village is a goner. this is war and these filthy arabs need to know what war is. things like this were common in korea and I see no problem with fighting a war.

Gravatar Now that I think about it, maybe Oversight is right. I think America should start taking moral cues from Nazi collaborators. I mean, it's not like France has any kind of history oppressing muslims. I know that earlier this year Paris was practically burned to the ground, but I think that was over stale bread or something. The reason the French are so pissed at us is because they were buying all their oil from Sadam. BTW, the next time somebody decides to invade you, don't be afraid to pick up the phone mon ami.

Gravatar yankee

You really shouldn't be so down on the french.

They are nice people.

I know the country, it's quirks, it's landscape, it's history, it's culture, it's language and it's people.

Do you?

Those "stinking Arabs" know what war is. They know what it's like to stand barefoot and fight brave American Marines laden with body armor and armed with the latest high tech "game boy" armaments. Those stinking Arabs routed the British colonial "empire"wiping out a garrison of over 15,000, ALLOWING only one to survive to tell the tale.

What comes around goes around.

...and when they finally run your "brave" American/Israeli cowards out of their countries the world will cheer at your downfall.

Good bye!

Good riddance.

Peace to ALL.
Thank you.
