Thanks for bringing this subject up. Eminent Domain is one of the worst abuses of government power, yet there is very little interest by the public to stop it. Both Republicans and Democrats are to blame because wealthy developers bankroll the campaigns. Government officials claim it is for the public good because the government can collect more taxes on the more expensive homes and businesses. It seems to me that the only way this will stop is if the people of this country demand a constitutional amendment which more clearly defines how and when the government can envoke Eminent Domain.

While I agree that both of the major parties have abused their use of the power of eminent domain, I am reluctant to changes in the constitution. Such changes should be thought about long and hard, and I might add, with help from the Author of our liberties.
