Gravatar TF,
I don't think the root of inherent is inherit. I found the following online:

root of inherent

root of inherit

I'm at work, so I don't have time to do serious research, but it's worth looking at...

Gravatar Brad,

It would take someone more skilled than me; however, my dictionary shows the origin of both to be the similar if not the same.

Gravatar What's the old line, "To heir is human...to forgive devine"? Sorry it took so long to get that line in.
I had to go out and make a living; and besides, I'm not that quick with one liners. I did check again and there is no doubt that you need to get a much better dictionary or reference location. "Heir" is the root for both Inherent and Inherit.

I suppose I should be grateful for that because it only puts an exclamation mark on what I said about the use of language being a barrier to communication. Thank you.

Gravatar Why is the title of my blog "illuminating"? It's a play off the title of a book.

Gravatar Eric,

We mortals are in a temporary state prior to entering the grave; often questioning or even denying the relationship to our Creator. Often times mortal men question laws that have been in place, eternal laws which are out of our control, to the point of grumbling. My point was/is that a discussion which involves Inherent Rights, which as I have pointed out come from God; well, it’s more than a little bizarre to side step the mentioning of God as a means of avoiding unnecessary baggage with those who may not happen to agree with such a proposition. The fact remains that several of the opinions expressed on your blogsite, either by you or those who commented, have no clue about life’s purpose according to those laws laid out by our Creator and therefore have no clue as to the temporary state which inevitably leads to the grave or the eternities beyond that grave.

In truth, I find it more than a little sad that so many “heirs” have no comprehension of the most basic issues which explain mortality. This is beginning to become more than a response to a question about why I thought it was “illuminating”. It is no coincidence that we appear as we do, in the likeness or image of the Creator, for we are indeed heirs to all that He has. Wouldn’t it be important to understand a little more about the “rules of the game” if so much is at stake? I wrote this particular article to inspire questions that might lay the foundation for a more detailed discussion of the nature of those God given rights to Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness. I am glad to have had the opportunity to answer your question.

Gravatar T.F. Very enlightening.
