TF,
I shot several people in the line of duty...
That was because I worked drug interdiction out of Florida when I was in the Navy.
Fortunately, they shot first...
I had nightmares for a while, but they went away because I kenw that I did the right thing...

I was tempted to; but it turns out that supervisors were on the "do not shoot" list in the general orders book. I had to settle for insubordination and leave it at that.

Moving account for those of us who respect the law but have little or no experience in the trenches. Thank you for sharing it.

That was nicely written. I think most of us had those kind of dreams. In mine, the bullets would bounce off the bad guy and had no effect.

I have a close friend on SWAT. He is even on leave right how for ending a hostage situation as a sniper. He says he has come to peace with taking out the bad guys. I hope you have as well.
I don't know who the Watchers of Weasels are, but congrats on that. I was nominated by them for a post many moons ago. I got a vote and lost too.

Nice article. Your nightmares are what I would expect if I ever had to take somebody out.
Not a cop...just an armed citizen, who has his home as secure as can be, and who constantly thinks rationally about how to not end up in a confrontational situation.
