Gravatar Hmmmm.... my company is in month 12-14 or so in our six sigma journey. So far the results has been in the millions of dollars saved or earned. In my area alone we are saving $17M in two years with just one project. I don't see this or TQM as something you would turn to versus servant-leadership. Six sigma is a set of tools and associated committments to significantly improve things. Servant-leadership has to do with how we approach the six sigma projects. I see them as complementary, not competing with one another.

Gravatar Hector....I agree with what you are saying....perhaps in trying to keep my posts brief the point I was trying to make became blurred. Six sigma definitely has a place...but what has happened is that companies have found out that: 1) it can hamper innovation; and 2) it does not work with immeasurable things such as leadership skills. And so companies turn to servant-leadership principles for developing the more "human" tasks such as leadership development, and keep six sigma as a way to evaluate processes that are "data-driven".
I hope I have clarified this a bit more....e-mail me and I'll make sure you can access the Wall Street article. TMH

Gravatar Trevor,
I'm there with the expanded explanation. I fully agree with the leadership development part. We talked about this article at my company yesterday with the COO. our conclusion is that we still have so many low hanging fruits that we are not in the danger zone of affecting creativity..., not yet...

Gravatar Hector,

Please beware of some "Low Hanging Fruit"
