Tom, I deeply appreciate these kinds of ideas about the dignity of work. You found an excellent quote. My favorite is that great Martin Luther King quote:

“If a man is called to be a street sweeper, he should sweep streets even as Michelangelo painted, or Beethoven composed music, or Shakespeare wrote poetry. He should sweep streets so well that all the hosts of heaven and earth will pause to say, here lived a great street sweeper who did his job well.”

I like your Martin Luther King quote on the street sweeper. A good reminder for me to go and do the dishes, and to do them well, and listen for the hosts of my wife and kids proclaiming what a good job I did. Thanks,
