Hello Rob.
My name is Ed and I am a gay conservative too. I never realized that there were a few others like me. I know that sounds really ignorant, but I don't get out much.
I am 43 years old, and live in Maine.
I am NOT a Republican, but consider myself a conservative. I have been a conservative as far back as I remember, and it is just as much a part of me as being gay.
The culture REALLY seems to not want to notice that there are some gay people who don't want to protest the Pope (I'm Catholic too), or spit on Ronald Reagan's memory, or make fun of America. I am gay because I like the company and attention of men. That is one part of who I am. I am also a proud American, and respect our founding fathers and the constitution. I am a local performer (Actor- Usually in musical theater) so I am around plenty of gay men. I do not share with them, my values and beliefs because I want to get along and not have the other gay people hate me. Which is what I think some would do.
Now I work for the Department of Defense (Navy), and am what I guess I will call a "bear" type.
I am REALLY behind the times and there are so many things that are done on the computer that I have no clue about. If you saw my apartment you would think you stepped back into the 80s.
But I do read, and keep up with events. I am afraid for our country and fear that although the world may not be ending, I wonder how much longer America will be part of it.
There are tons of other things on my mind so I will shut up. But let me say Thank You for sharing yourself. I just discovered the Gay Patriot also and love it. I am so happy that I am not as alone or weird as I thought. It's exiting to know there are other guys like me who are sooooo different from what popular culture expects gay men to be. Thank you man!
Sincerely,
Ed B.

I understand you are a conservative, but do you honestly still agree with bush policies? even most of the GOP can't stand the man.

Cheers, Ed!
You and I are pretty similar in some respects. I consider myself Conservative, but I'm registered Republican. Didn't really know there was a difference until the past few years. I didn't really start paying attention to politics until the 2000 election. I sorta followed it when I was living in Texas and Bush was running for governor.
Back when I was younger and more naive, I tended to vote for whomever I heard the most about instead of what they were saying. I voted for Clinton twice, but can't really remember why. I think it was because "everybody else was doing it".
Glad you found GP. Dan (GPW) and Bruce (GP) are a good pair of guys. Bruce is pretty busy travelling with work and doesn't write that much. Dan holds the fort down for the most part. I found them a few years ago and I go by there a few times a day.
As for my own blog, I hit a wall not too long ago. There was stuff that I wanted to write about but either had writer's block or felt so many people had covered it and better than I could. So I just sorta stopped. I'm trying to get back into it, although my partner's coming to town on Thursday and I probably won't write anything until about 2 June.
Keep in touch and hope to see you around. Feel free to send me an e-mail if you want.

For the most part, yes. I do have some disagreements with the way he's handled some things. I also have disagreements with the way he has refused to take on the liberals. That comment at the Knesset, for example, SHOULD have been made at least 5 years ago and more than once.
even most of the GOP can't stand the man.
Well I hope you can provide examples of how they personally "can't stand the man" as opposed to politically. Yeah, there are some gutless wonders who are more concerned about getting re-elected than doing what's right. And even then, I have to wonder how many of them really do want to be re-elected.

LesbianNeoCon here. I, too, had blindly voted democrat for much of my life, until I woke up, and discovered the democrat party was nothing more than a front for marxist groupism and class envy. It's an American party, no more.
Being gay is only a part of what makes me. I am an American, first and foremost.
Seeing what the democrats have in store for us scares me (talk about an understatement). I'm not alone in believing Obama is a plant for the islamo-fascist element in this country, hell bent on deconstructing our society. It is the cornerstone of marxist ideology. Listen to him, to his wife, to his spiritual advisor, and to his terrorist buddies. They all have the same goal in mind - to put America "in it's place". What place is that? Like every other communist shithole on the planet. Yep. That way, we can be humbled (humiliated) in the eyes of a morally bankrupt world.
Anyone who votes for Obama should have their citizenships revoked and shipped off to any floundering socialist cesspool. Good luck -you'll need it.
