*sniffle* (tomato plant)
*giggle* (car remote)

Did you get ice cream? My inner demon is a spoiled brat.
I'm always amazed at how those delicate and fragile little tomato plants can turn into hulking monstrosities that must be lashed and pruned into submission by August. Good luck with that. I am not going to indulge my tomato demon this summer. Too bad about the cucumber, though. Mine grew just the right amount last summer. (I didn't have to leave cucumbers on the neighbor's steps. Which reminds me of a great Garrison Keillor story....)
P.S.
Ben is getting lots of use out of his snugly little jacket! Such chilly nights lately -- it's great for layering. No confounded crotch snaps.

Nathan, I'm hoping for a Little Tomato Plant that Could happy ending. And if it becomes the monster Sarah predicts, there will be blogposts.
I knew the car remote would make someone laugh -- I should have figured it would be you.
This is my first year with vegetables, Sarah, so I may have dug myself in deep. I keep telling people the upside-down tomato planters (which are 4' tall -- no stooping!) will make all the difference.
I'll let you know how that goes.
No, I didn't get ice cream. I try to not reward bad behaviour. Unfortunately, that means I didn't get ice cream either, so it hurt me more than it hurt my demon.
Ben certainly does look handsome in his baby blue jacket. I'm glad it's still of use... and that the size is OK. Baby sizes are a difficult prospect, what with all the variables involved.

I'm so tempted, with the cucumber and the hardening and the stroking and the perkiness. . . But I'll be a grown-up and wish you and your garden well. There is nothing on the planet like a home-grown tomato.

I know, Kim, I know. I think of you as every little innuendo leaves a trail of slime across my brain. And I know, deep in my heart, that even if you decide not to take the bait, you're still thinking what I'm thinking.

I read your tale to my tomato plants and they all wilted just a bit.
*snort* to the key fob story. Been there, beeped that.

Sympathetic tomato plants -- who knew?
I knew I couldn't be the only one. It's the new millenium version of trying to stick your car keys in your front door.
