Hey, my cousin. Just wanted to say I agree with you wholeheartedly but, as you seem to be defending yourself very well on your own, I'll leave it at that. I will say, though, that if you would like to hear what I think about Steve's suggestion that you either believe jesus is the son of god or believe jesus to be a liar, call me. But, let him know that if he finds your comment about "agnostic with Christian leanings" to be inflammatory, he should wait to meet your pratically atheist cousin. Hi, Russ' cousin, Sara. I have a niece named Sara McNamara. Spooky.
Anyway... i don't find his comment to be inflammatory - i'm just very clear on what I believe... and Jesus said he was the Son of God. He was killed because he said he was the Son of God... people thought he was a liar. You can't 'lean' toward him. He was either telling the truth or he was lying. There's no grey in that.
As for the discourse, Russ, it would appear that you've grown tired (given your tone and the title of your latest post) of the discussion. S'all good. I'd note however, that Jefferson, during his famous letter to the baptists, was in the midst of incredible political turmoil and was fearing all sorts of fallout because of decisions he'd made (keep following the links in that article, as it's covered very well there - although there's a lot of federalist background that's left out) and things he had said... and that link of the letter from madision to walsh. seriously? i'd never read that one... but come on. did you read the whole thing? sooooo not support of an argument not to teach creation. not even close. steve | Email | Homepage | 09.27.06 - 12:10 pm | #
