Obama has been making some good choices so far with the people he is going to have around him.

Any news on whether or not the Dennis Wolff nomination was for real or not? The only source I've heard it from is Dennis Wolff himself (via the Harrisburg press), so I'm skeptical. Still, I'm horrified at the prospect.

The people that Obama is surrounding himself with are, by and large, retreads from the Clinton administration. Many of Obama's supporters thought they were moving beyond the Clinton era of politics.

Well, fair enough, DrDon, but the Clinton administration is where the experienced people are, and (for some silly reason) it appears Obama feels the need to hit the ground running.
And many of the people here complaining about Obama's appointees were accusing Obama of being a communist prior to November 4th. Not exactly supporters.

I'm not buying what you're shoveling there, Ed. When Clinton took office, it's not like he scoured the ranks from the Carter administration to stand beside him, even though they were the only Democrats available with any real experience in the executive branch.
There was a Clinton on the ballot last spring, and if we wanted a third Clinton administration, we had a very ready means of communicating that desire. Instead, we opted for change. And we are clearly not getting it.

I dunno, picking reasonably competent people seems a change from the "heckuva job" crowd. In all seriousness, Obama is inheriting two wars (or a war and an occupation or whatever) and an economy in meltdown. Plus people see crisis in healthcare, education, our "crumbling" infrastructure and our energy systems. Our Democracy is trying to take advantage of technology in elections, yet the companies that are supplying it are not offering paper trails. And I am sure, given five minutes, J Random people could come up with several other urgent issues. So Obama should pick neophytes, who will fight their own bureaucracies, just for the sake of "change"?
As I vaguely remember, Clinton and Carter both had some trouble because they brought outsiders from their states with them to DC. I won't even comment on the start of the second Bush's Presidency.

Admiral, perhaps you should wait until the cabinet is fully picked before judging whether you have change or not. So far I see change at Homeland Security, Treasury...and perhaps more.
