Cookie,
You've hit the mother lode Cookie. Great Texas Swing and Beer Joint songs from the magnificent Hank T. I really enjoyed the story about Minnie Pearl. Behind the Minnie Pearl mask, her real name was Sarah Cannon. She was a very bright woman from a wealthy family who got an excellent education. The whole Minnie Pearl thing was an act, a very clever and profitable act. She was a wonderful comedienne who connected with her audiences and inspired other women in Country Music. Your story reminded me of something that happened to my wife and me in a pub in the Scotland Highlands in the late 80's. Think I might just turn it into a post sometime soon. Thanks again for some great tunes.

When I was knee-high to a grasshopper, I would watch "Hee-Haw" with my Gramps (proud WWII vet, was a plane mechanic in the Air Force!). My favorite performer was always Minnie Pearl because of the way she said "HooowwwDY!"
I remember thinking that she always sounded and looked so friendly and happy. It's a pity that show isn't around nowadays for my young'un to watch.
My second favorite part of "Hee-Haw" was the "Pffft You Were Gone" by Buck Owens (wasn't Archie Campbell in there too?). I loved singing that as a kid so I could make raspberries! :D
