Nominated for Best Travel Blog 2009. Votes appreciated. Many Thanks!

Hope that TubeRelief goes well guys.

Wish I was there (at the pub I mean).

Current state of the network: minor delays on Central line (over run of engineering works at Hainault) and on City branch of Northern line (signal failure at Camden).

Good luck folks!

Not a bad AM peak on the network: Central line now ok, but minor delays persist on Northern following that earlier signal failure at Camden and a security alert at Balham. Finally, the Picc has minor delays following a dud train at Hatton Cross.

Good luck to all, wish I could be there too. I am so sorry to see Neil shaved! His beard was really looking...well...manly!

Good luck today guys, hope the tube stays delay free!

Good luck to you all

Good luck people! Great unity up here

Its all starting to go a bit Pete Tong out there...

A security alert at Tower Hill has resulted in the complete suspension of the Circle line, partial suspension of the District line between Mansion House and Tower Hill and inflicted minor delays on the H&C.

The Northern is still suffering from the minor delays noted above.

Come on you (tube) Rovers!

Good luck!

Good to see that Geoff 'n' Neil made their donation target.

My wife's team just texted me from Hainault. They want to know how they can send you pictures from their mobiles?

Still having a word with Vodafone but in the meantime they can send by email to pictures@goingunderground.net
Cheers!!

Good luck to everyone. The updates on the blog are appreciated. Sounds lots of fun!

Arse!

Sub surface lines back up to normal, but severe delays on westbound Central dur to signal failure between Stratford and Mile End. Minor delays persist on Northern.

Just popping in to offer my support from across the pond in Washington, DC. Wish I was there riding the rails instead of here at work.

Cheers.

Severe delays continue to plague the Central because of that dud signal 'tween Stratford and Mile End.

Minor delays ar occuring on the District and H&C afer an earlier security alert on a c2c train at West Ham.

And finally...Northern is still suffering minor delays from Camden and Balham. Will it ever get better?!

James, Peter, Billy, Nikki and Alan's progress can be followed on http://billyabbott.livejournal.com where Billy is making irregular updates by mobile phone.

System looking much better now - only minor delays noted on H&C and District due to earlier person ill on train at Bromley by Bow.

Sorry I can't be there.
Good luck everyone.

Actually no one has all of the first nine answers right yet and also it's cheating to come back four hours later with a different answer, so from now on - it's all 10 in one go please. I thank you!

In fact, as only two have you have answered so far and given a huge amount of the answers away, I'm going to change some of the questions - feel free to enter again

I can't answer the questions too well (except for 4.Docklands, I'd say no) but here are some captions:

Geoff photo:

1."Look Mum! You raised a media whore!"
-or-
2."Stick around, my encore is even better!"

Neil's photo:

"Neil Blake divests himself of all remaining manhood."

Change the questions all you like. I'm sticking with my answers

Since no one has claimed question 9 yet - St John's Wood. By the way, did you know:
The only station not containing any letter from BLUEBIRD is ACTON TOWN.
The only station not containing any letter from LOBSTER is WAPPING.
The only station not containing any letter from A SPIDER is LOUGHTON.
The only station not containing any letter from HUMMINGBIRDS is OVAL.
The only station not containing any letter from HARE is PIMLICO.
The only station not containing any letter from GRIZZLY BEAR is ST. JOHN'S WOOD.

/Håkan

Still waiting for people to get all of the first nine right and looking forward to seeing more tie-breakers.

Have fun!

I could have said - guess where I've been for the last few hours but all will be revealed by the time it takes to write the next updates.

A couple of more photo captions for you:

Neil: "Sorry, the sideburns STAY."

PS Well done on the media coverage. I'm pretty impressed. I'm in the middle of nowhere right now (Wigtown - no, really) and yet I still got to hear about it.

Hello.

It's almost 4am! We've been up 24 hours.

Annie, this blog had has me in *tears* -it's brilliant, bit I am sooo tired.

WTF is Wigtown?

I'm going to bed to sleeeeppp, my legs and (Bizarrely) shoulders really ache!

It was a FANTASTIC day!

Wow, what a day.. what a day!!

I am exhuasted (shoulder ache is from the bags by the way Geoff!!), and ache just about everywhere..

But it was a truly amazing day!

Great blog today annie, and thanks for posting the pics I emailed from my phone (which unfortunately had a crap camera!).. but the Algate East photo is also us!! I got a bit excited when I worked out how to use that feature!!

I'm still completely blown away by it all!!

I'll get my old fashioned paper diary typed up and online with decent camera pics as soon as I can manage it!

Going to try and sleep now, thanks EVERYONE who ws involved.. we all acheived something pretty mazing today!!

Congratulations to all the participants, and also to Annie for all the photos and links. I feel like I am there participating, even if I am a long away in Oz.

PS. To anyone who cares, I think you guys missed your chance with the Ashes.

Hey Nikki - good call for going online at 4.36am after all you guys did yesterday. I'm knackered after blogging all day and only doing an hour or so of the challenge. But you and Geoff are sooo right it was an amazing day!

Let's hope that what we've all done with Tube Relief is to show that we're not all stressed by travelling on the tube and will counter scare-mongering stories like this which came out today - although the research in question, which says that 46% of people surveyed did not feel safe travelling by tube was done less than two weeks after the the July 7th attacks - people were definitely likely to be feeling more stressed then. But I believe times have changed.

well done everyone, can't wait to read the blogs with some of the stories.

hmmz, not awake yet so it seems

this is the correct e-mail adress now, in case everything's correct, which is quite impossible

Glad to hear you got home ok Nikki, what a stroke of luck that taxi turning uo when it did!.

Had a great day, had to get up before 11 this morning as my body was craving food more substantial than soggy chocolate and apples. I don't think my legs will ever forgive me for yesterday.

Well done everyone, especially my fellow members of "Team Billy", for making it such an enjoyable experience. If you're ever near Earls Court, pop in for a cuppa!.

Well done, everyone! Do you want to do it all again next year, so that I can join in too? (I'm hoping to be in London next July/August, maybe also a bit of September). Did anyone take video? Also, hello to Jonathan and Matthew, who I took pity on and donated 30 quid to, because no-one else had! Hope you managed to collect a bit more. And I'm serious about doing it again next year - I can imagine that the fund's work will be ongoing, so why not make the run an annual event?

Congrats to all those of you who managed to do it. How I wish I could have been there as well.

Well its 3:40pm and I obviously just slept for twelve hours Amazing experience - I cannot get tube stations out of my head at the moment. How long before I can think of other things again.... ? What an amazing bunch of people you all are! See you Saturday!

Complete madness. What a day. Thanks for collecting all this stuff.

Back to the sofa now.

The husband has just recived a survey thing from TFL, where they want you to detail your travel for any 4 day period in this week or following few weeks..

I sooooo want to complete it for yesterday!!!

Bleurgh.

I got home at 5pm today, having stayed over in London.

Got to bed at about 3am and up at 10 but I still need more sleep before tomorrow night's exertions in the pub.

Don't forget to come to the aftershow people. Bring some friends (but not TOO many as the pub can only hold 80 people before it starts getting packed).

Thanks for coming people and I'm sorry the beard couldn't make it but it had to go.

I want to know if anyone used their Oystercard for any length of time yesterday and the resulting journey log screen at the stations ...

Well Geoff, there's this magic book called an atlas. It shows you where places are.

For the modern children, they have this thing called Goggle or something and it tells you things when you ask. Apparently, they even have a map thing on Boggle and it tells you where stuff is. It's all too complicated for my aged brain, so I just rely on being educated.

Wigtown is near Dumfries. Which is in Scotland. Scotland's that bit north of London after you get past that part that's confusingly called the t'North. You know, the place where gameshow contestants come "all the way from..."

I saw you at Wimbledon station the other day. Woooo. That's a sppoky "wooo", not an amazed and impressed "wooo". Or maybe it's the other way round. I get so confused when I look at those pictures of you in shorts.

Love jon.

Hey Phil

Thanks so much for sponsorsing Jonathan and Matthew who didn't have any online sponsors until then.

Not sure how much of this will be an annual event - maybe if the London Bombings Relief fund is still running this time next year it will be something to think about.

But in terms of challenging for the hell of it. There's a fairly regular Zone 1 challenge (here's 2005's which took place in May), so watch Neil's Tube Challenge site or this space for details on when the next one will be.

1. Neil - but I'm guessing that it was not taken on the day as he is getting onto a central line train (I think at Bank - certainly underground) and they did not do that on the actual day. If not then it is Geoff!
2. Project Adorno aka Praveen and Russell
3. Between Wimbledon and Morden Road - when heading between the District and Northern Lines
4. David Scard & Tara Exell, Steven Karahan & Samuel Robinson, Evan Thorn & Dave Salvo, Jonathan Amery and 'yayrabies'
5. Mill HIll East, Finchley Central, Woodford, Stanmore and Richmond
6. The Red Cross at the request of Ken Livingstone
7. Officially £20,000 - but hopefully more!
8. There is no night bus to Upminster - but the nearest a nightbus stops is Romford
9. St John's Wood
10a. Neil gets ready to play Santa in this years LU exmas campaign!
10b. Mind The Gap - more like Mind the B.O!

Sounds like you guys had great fun!
