I would say the 'war' was about getting the al Qaeda butcherers who perpetrated the WTC attacks and destroying the regime that sheltered them. The current government is infinitely preferable to the previous even though it falls rather short of a secular democracy.

We could use a few General Napiers today or at least the strength of character that animated him.
