Gravatar Just lovely, Cate. I'm supposed to be on blogging sabbatical for a few more days, but as soon as I saw you were sharing your birth story today, I just HAD to read. What a lovely birth and what a confident first-timer you were!

We loved our 3rd birth (HBA2C) and I tell the story often--sometimes the short version, sometimes the long version (http://millermemo.com/BrightonBirth.html), which I know you've already read. But it always gives me such pride and reminds me of how empowered I was as a new mom. Trusting my body and my baby was absolutely amazing after two previous horrid births.

Have a super week!

~Shaye

Gravatar I'm sure you've read it before, but here's my UC birth with Ruby

Gravatar Cate, I loved reading your birth story of your beautiful son! Thank you for sharing it!

I recently wrote of my twin home birth story here:

Gravatar What a beautiful story!

I sit here in tears reading it!

With my first I had an emergency c-section and went on, 16 months later to have a beautiful, natural VBAC. I remember uttering the words, "Bring on the world, I can take it!" just moments after he was born

I sit here and wait for my phone to ring as my first mom as a doula in training could start this beautiful journey...at any moment

Gravatar That was absolutely beautiful Cate. Parts reminded me of my birth story in many ways. It gave me goosebumps.

Gravatar Me again, if you're interested, I rewrote Ruby's birth story, on her birthday (today!).

Gravatar I wanted to thank you all for being so wonderfully supportive of my birth story. I've always felt strongly in it.
After I posted it, a Facebook friend made a great comment: "My natural birth also gave me the strength to be a mother. I feel that this is the way things are meant to be."
Isn't that true? Not like we wouldn't be ready to be mothers in any other birth circumstances, but we all know how much our natural births empowered us.
Shaye, I absolutely wasn't wise. Perhaps I didn't clarify how scared I was. But I knew that it was all surprising, and it all would be over soon. And I'd have the prize!

Tonight, I told Lucian True his birth story instead of reading to him. He was entranced. Sure, I had to tip-toe around the hard stuff. He's only 4! But I hope that this is a ritual for us, every Birth day.

Have you ever head things about a baby born in the caul? The night I gave birth to my boy, I dreamed we were sitting on rocks near a waterfall, not too different from the ones I saw where I hiked when I was pregnant. And he was older--in his 20s--and he told me the secret of life. I didn't hear it though, through the rushing water. I guess I will have to wait!

Thank you again, for letting me share this.
I'm also posting it on Eco Child's Play tomorrow. I think we should share our awesome birth stories as often as we can! God knows we hear enough awful (ridiculous) stuff while we're pregnant!

Gravatar Cate - babies born in the caul are said to be lucky and have the gift of foresight. Also, old wives say a person born in the caul will never drown.

It really is a lovely story!
