Gravatar Just because I like to argue for the sake of arguing ...

I actually prefer hard media to soft content on my computer. Not because "it's what I grew up with" or I'm any sort of "die-hard stickler for outdated technology" *g* ... but for a few other reasons: 1) it doesn't consume much-needed space on my hard drive; 2) bonus features on a DVD (as you said); 3) CD/DVD case inserts complete with full-size artwork that's not merely hidden in some obscure folder on my hard drive, song lyrics (with a CD) and often menu maps, chapter lists, and other helpful content (with a DVD); 4) the portability of hard media — I can take it with me and pop it into anyone's stereo or DVD player without having to hassle with connecting iPods, authorizing iTunes accounts, and whatnot ... and unless someone has Apple TV, it's virtually impossible to view iTunes movies on a home theater system.

But maybe I'm just weird that way.

Gravatar Job 40:15-19 Behold now behemoth, which I made with thee; he eateth grass as an ox. Lo now, his strength is in his loins, and his force is in the navel of his belly. He moveth his tail like a cedar: the sinews of his stones are wrapped together. His bones are as strong pieces of brass; his bones are like bars of iron. He is the chief of the ways of God: he that made him can make his sword to approach unto him.

Is there an application here?

Behemoth.com has got my vote!

Thanks John !

Gravatar I prefer hard copy DVD's to soft copy because of what Scottie said, but I prefer soft when it comes to music because I get exactly what I want, not 3 scores I like and 9 that I dislike.

Gravatar Scottie, great arguments. A few points though, to be considered.

Harddrive space costs 12.6 cents a gigabyte now. Not exactly a bank-buster if you know what I'm sayin'; a full DVD with special features and all would only consumed 65 cents of harddrive space. The cost of manufacturing a burned DVD though is more than that.

And of course, we're on the edge of having two and three terabyte harddrives, so I estimate that within a year, harddrive space is under ten cents a gig. But remember, a lot of the content on Behemoth is focused on families; hard media has the disadvantages of being destroyed by improper handling from a little one. DVD's and CD's are delicate.

2.) very soon, downloadable media will have all the bonus content included. It already is on some of the content from Behemoth.com. It is coming...

3.) I agree about the packaging; I love pretty packaging. No arguments there.

4.) Hard media I find far less portable than my soft media, like my iPod. Behemoth.com media doesn't require any digital authorization, unlike iTunes media, (and even iTunes media is becoming more DRM free; almost everything I buy there now is DRM free. Meaning I can play it on any PC (or Mac) any time I want.

And most home theater systems today have DVI and VGA inputs; a laptop easily connects. My laptop even has a standard RCA video out, so playing anything from HD movies to YouTube videos from a computer to a home theater system is not that difficult. Plus, media center PC's are also becoming a more common feature of home theater systems, as are HD televisions.

And I have a follow-up point; with High Definition movies coming out now, the most widely available player of HD movies is the laptop computer. With a quick DVI connect to an HDTV, the HD movie is instantly available.

Jeremiah: I agree with you on music; but it also applies to television programs, and/or compilation CD's, and/or short films. I don't want to buy a DVD for a whole short film.

Gravatar I have yet to see a DRM-free movie on iTunes — short or long. And I doubt they will ever be there. Pirating movies is much more lucrative and causes a much greater hit to the creators than pirating music.

Re: downloading shorts vs. purchasing them on DVD ... no argument there

Gravatar Television series, same there. And I think buying a short film online is a good idea too...since most of them do not have any special features.

John, you should be a salesman for Behemoth.com

Gravatar I think Behemoth is a beautiful vision come to fruition. What an awesome opportunity to create some residual income.

The majority trends being what they are, it's the perfect time for Behemoth.

It's a place to be proud of working with. It's a place that makes it easy to get established. It's a place that the best form of advertising that has ever been, word-of-mouth, is utilized tremendously within the product sales themselves. It's a place that is thinking about the Christian entrepreneur in many respects. I have no doubt that many visionary thinkers will cause Behemoth to get much bigger. I am very excited to see it's growth.

God Bless,
Kelly

Gravatar Just to be clear, IPOD is not the only player this content will work with. The content is DRM free so you don't need to be locked into the IPOD universe to take advantage of this. Works great on my Zune!

Gravatar I have an iPod, and it works.

Gravatar Anyone else having trouble with the 5 dollar credit for a new account and a $10 purchase?

Thanks,

David
