Stacey,
The letter writer seems to not understand the difference between religion/faith and science. There is a scientific body of knowledge, where there are holes in the knowledge; science will use common sense and prior work to look for answers to the questions.
To have faith in something does not make it so, that is a belief of that person. Throughout history, people whose faith is challenged by scientific discovery have tried to stop the science from looking for the truth.
If your letter writer does not chose to believe in the science of evolution, that is his choice but to criticize scientist for knowing things today that they didn’t know 30 years ago is a gross misunderstanding of science and the process of expanding knowledge. The understanding of evolution and the changes in things overtime is a proven fact. If your letter writer does not chose to learn and understand that things change, no amount of scientific proof will sway his faith. No one is trying to change him, but his faith is not science. Confusing the two is the problem.
