Gravatar Robin Smith is a fantastic Chairman. It is Kent Williams who is so evidently incompetent in the position to which he has been elected by the Democrats. What an utter idiot he is to think that he can be in any way successful in leadership! He is completely without integrity and trustworthiness. I have spoken with the state party today, left message with my party committeeman/committeewoman, and e-mailed the Carter Co. GOP to urge his ouster.

Gravatar Perhaps Brian Kelsey should shoulder some on the Williams action upon himself. He, self admittely, said he was the only REPUBLICAN that went to Williams’ district to Get Him Unseated. I suspect that made Williams mad.
Not justifing, just saying…

PS, If I were a Member of the TN Republican Executive committe, And I lived in Willams’ district, I would file a breech of contract suit.

Gravatar I have been a "silent" Republican for many years and have always provided what support I could for my state reps, both of which are Republican. This betrayal of the people of Tennessee, who have waited for 150 years for this moment, is simply putrid. To use the term honorable in the same sentence as Williams is laughable.

I sincerely hope the party machinery will kick the bum out. To allow him to keep the title of "Republican" is in itself a lie and the media will unhesitantly refer to legislation resulting from this puppet as coming from a "Republican conrolled house". The dems will continue their decades long corruption and we'll get the credit.

I am sure that I am not the only "silent" Republican who has been riled and that anger should be appeased with his expulsion and capitalized on for contributions dedicated to ensuring that this will not happen again. Strike while the iron is hot!

Any thought of working with "The Liar" and his puppeteers is surrender, and collusion with the dems is exactly what has weakened our party nationally. Let's face it, if the Republican Party cannot stand on principle we will not stand at all.

Our state is heading for a serious budget shortfall, so let Naifeh and his puppet face it. It is primarily of their doing anyway, but let's make it costly to them. If they attempt to raise taxes, make them explain it to the people. It wouldn't have been necessary had we been in control. If budgets need cutting let them explain their priorities. Let's give em the rope and watch them hang themselves.

We have been in the wilderness so long we've become resilient and can survive a couple more years.

As for Williams:
"A liar is not believed even though he tell the truth." - Cicero

Gravatar Stacey,

If I were any of the Republican Reps, I would simply refuse to even be in the same room with Williams where the Republican cacus is held. I would ask for the record to state that I would refuse to recognize him as speaker. I would also hold up any legislation for his district. I would refer to him as "Speaker Benedict Arnold Williams" when addressing him formally. I would even do things just short of being thrown out by the seargent of arms. Off the floor, I would be in his face ripping him a new hole in the anal regions and give him no rest, pure and simple. Drive him to insanity!

Gravatar Steve- I'm glad most of our reps are more mature than you seem to be.

The way to handle this is to wait it out -- accept that things are going to be no different for this GA, and then unseat him in the 107th. The House Republicans need to treat him just like the Senate Republicans treated Mike Williams: coolly, but without childish animosity. What happened was incredibly underhanded and disgusting, but you can't say he hasn't been duly elected Speaker under the TN House rules.

Gravatar I don't know, I think I have settled down a bit since returning home. Ron's speech on Tuesday was very appropriate and very helpful in getting my own head straight.

Whatever y'all do it must be clear to the voters/constituents of Tennessee that it does matter who governs. The Senate will lead the way until we can get things straight in 2010.

Gravatar Mr. Campfield,

Would you call anyone who broke a promise, no matter what the circumstances, a liar or traitor? If you would, then how do you explain your promise to my dad (that's right)that he would never see his name on your blog again unless it was in a positive light? Did you feel it was alright to break this promise because you were hurt or betrayed? I would simply like an honest answer.
