From USA Today;
"Seven U.S. presidents have asked Congress to end lynching. The House passed three laws to do so, but Southern senators filibustered each one. In a country that has never formally apologized for slavery, the Senate resolution stands as Congress' only apology for an injustice done to thousands of African-Americans."
The good ole south, has not changed much except that they are no longer Democrat and Dixiecrat.

Yes, I'd be more interested in a formal apology for slavery.

Justin, you had me all primed...
You made the comparison to the apology to Japanese-Americans but did not broach the Reparations that made the apology to them "very different" indeed.
Has anyone ever seen or done a substantive comparison of internment vs. Segregation? Seems to me they both were tremendous restrictions on "freedom" and the Living Terror that was Lynching and the attendant Racism of that Era (Restrictive laws and Race Riots to put "Negroes In Their Place")... seems to me those things are worthy of "repairing".
There was land (i.e. property) lost both by Riots and discriminatory acts of various manners.

And now there is TULSA. LIVING VICTIM/SURVIVORS without Reparations. If Republicans are real and genuine then they can step right up to that plate. For those who believe African-Americans should try to leverage their voting power as a Voting Bloc by entertaining either party... then these types of clear demands need to be placed on the table.
There is nothing they can question about TULSA. The "Nobody's Alive" bit is dead. A Reparations case like that and doing just by the Black Farmers awarded (but hardly receiving) Reparations should be a Litmus test for both parties with us place very specific demands about how those things must be addressed as well as other issues.
Sorry for the rank...
