No kids, so all I can do is pray. Sounds like you need it, too.

Rice cereal before bed. Or a shot of Brandy. (Just kidding about the brandy....maybe)

Where I come from it's Southern Comfort.
Asking for baby advice from the interwebs. You must be desperate.
Okay so we're advocates of letting a child at that age cry themselves back to sleep. Could be a stage.
Has anything changed in diet or routine?

It could be that the baby needs some slight training but it could also be teething or reflux from starting to take some basic solids. Check to see if there's excessive drooling or if the baby is seeming agitated after certain meals. You might have to wait and see but definitely keep an eye out.

We tried the rice cereal closer to bed time last night and that seemed to do the trick. But as Rey suggested, it does seem that teething has begun also.
My little girl is growing up :>

It's somewhat controversial among certain kinds of people, but the Ferber method worked for my son. Look into that, it might be right for your family.

thewritejerry, you may want to update the details of your 5 month old baby girl on your homepage. It still says, coming soon and gender unknown. Good luck, I don't know what advice to give on babies sleeping at night.

You don't. Babies change their habits in stages. For a few months she will wake up during the night and YOU as the parent have to deal with that. My husband and I made a schedule (one night me, the next night him) so we could at least get some type of sleep.
Understand, kids go through stages. My 12 year won't go to sleep before midnight. I can cut everything off, no lights, no phone, dark room, her in it in bed. She won't go to sleep, she'll just stare at the ceiling.
She's a night owl.
But when she was 5, she was up at DAWN! We could NEVER sleep in. The sun was up and SHE was up.
Go figure.
The 12 year old used to tell us EVERYTHING about her day -- up to 12 years old. Now she doesn't have 5 words for us within the day. Go figure.
They go through their things man, they go through their things.
